Emmerdale star Georgia Jay plans reunion with former co-star as she recalls ‘first day’
The actress has taken some time away from filming as she reminisced on her first year in the soap
Emmerdale star Georgia Jay took to her Instagram as she shared her trip away from the Dales, and former co-star Roxy Shahidi asked to plan a meet up upon her return.
Georgia Taylor (Steph) showed up in the village last year with Nicholas Day (Anthony Fox), which turned Ruby’s world upside down as she struggled to accept her estranged father back into her life.
Fans eventually learned why Ruby had tried to keep him away for so long, as flashbacks showed that Anthony had sexually abused her repeatedly when she was younger.
When a DNA test revealed that Steph’s biological father wasn’t Caleb, but Anthony, the fireworks kicked off with Caleb holding him at gunpoint and Aaron later beating him to a pulp, before Ruby decided to end his life.
Anthony was then k.i.l.l.e.d and Ruby, Caleb, Aaron, John, Chas and Cain all tried to keep the truth from Steph, but she soon found the gun in Caleb’s safe and demanded answers.
In recent episodes, Ruby revealed all to her daughter, including that Anthony had fathered her. Struggling to cope with the reality of it all, Steph even looked into plastic surgery as she kept seeing his face whenever she looked at her own.
Taking to her Instagram, Georgia posted a carousel of pictures as she enjoyed a break in Miami, Florida. Alongside various snaps of the golden sunset, Georgia also posted a picture of herself in a laid black vest and cap on the beach.
As she wrote the caption “Vitamin Sea”, actress Roxy Shahidi commented: “Let’s meet up when you’re back please” to which Georgia replied: “Yes” with the ‘100’ emoji.
Roxy Shahidi left the ITV soap earlier this year after her character Leyla Harding was one of the three confirmed victims in the Valentine’s limo crash.
The 41-year-old actress first joined Emmerdale in 2008 part-time before taking on the role permanently in 2014. Now, she’s running a podcast with former co-star Matthew Wolfenden (David Metcalfe), as well as posting her own yoga videos online.
Joe Warren-Plant who plays Leyla’s on-screen son, Jacob, gave Georgia some travel recommendations as he wrote: “If you get chance, go see the Sunset AcroYoga crew at South Pointe Park. Wednesday/Sunday evenings I think!”
Georgia then took to her Instagram stories and reminisced over her first day on set. With her stood next to the Emmerdale sign, she wrote: “Where did the time go?! First day!” Followed by a snap of her and Mike Parr (Ross Barton) stood next to each other as she said: “1st take”.
In upcoming episodes, Steph’s condition will begin to spiral further as she plans to go under the knife as Ruby and Caleb are in a desperate race to save her.
