Controversial Emmerdale star Asan N’Jie has been spotted on set in Leeds after bagging a new movie role.

The actor, who played Ellis Chapman in the ITV soap, is set to star in Giant – a new boxing biopic following the life of Prince Naseem Hamed and his trainer Brendan Ingle.

Asan is playing the role of Tom, while actor Amir El-Masry takes on the part of the former professional boxer.

The movie sees Asan star alongside movie veteran Pierce Brosnan, who is taking on the role of Brendan, and marks Asan’s biggest career move since leaving Emmerdale.

Back in 2019, Asan was sacked from the soap after a fight with Jamie Lomas, who plays Warren Fox in Hollyoaks.

The two actors were caught on video having a confrontation after the TV Choice Awards, which reportedly took place at the Hilton Park Lane Hotel in London.

According to reports, Asan was escorted from the premises by security and allegedly made threats to ‘kill’ Jamie.

Following Emmerdale’s decision to axe the actor, Asan released a statement, which said: ‘My behaviour at the TV Choice Awards was completely unacceptable and very much out of character.

‘I sincerely apologise to everybody who has been affected especially Jamie Lomas, the whole Emmerdale team, our audience, ITV, my family, and the organisers of the TV Choice Awards.

‘I am devastated, accept full responsibility for my actions and I am determined to learn from this.’

Following his Emmerdale exit, Asan has had roles in TV series’ such as Bloodlands and Industry, as well as a number of films.
