Emmerdale star Bradley Johnson has teased that Vinny Dingle has some “exciting” things happening in the Dales in upcoming scenes.

The actor didn’t join Emmerdale until 2019 when he arrived back in the village with mum, Mandy Dingle (Lisa Riley). Recently, Vinny was heartbroken when he found out that Mandy wasn’t his biological mother and she adopted him from her cousin Tina Dingle who didn’t want to raise him.

He also struggled with the idea of being a father to Gabby Thomas’ son, as he dealt with insecurities thanks to his experience with his own father.

After coaxing the truth out of him, Vinny told Mandy: “Sometimes I feel like I can’t trust myself,” Vinny explains. “To tell him off without losing it. I don’t want to be like my dad. You don’t understand, mum – I can see the fear in his eyes every time I shout at him.”

However, later on in the episode Gabby managed to reassure Vinny, and he decided to kneel down on one knee and propose to her. After she accepted, they rushed to tell Mandy who appeared concerned after his earlier behaviour.

Vinny married his first girlfriend Liv Flaherty after they started dating in 2020 during the first lockdown. Unfortunately, things took a dark turn after Liv was killed off in 2022 to celebrate Emmerdale’s 50th anniversary.

As episodes air of the ITV soap this week, viewers will watch as Kammy tries to help Vinny plan an anniversary surprise for Gabby after forgetting to organise anything.

While it’s not been revealed what, actor Bradley informed Digital Spy that Vinny has more to come in future episodes.

Speaking at the British Soap Awards, Bradley teased: “It’s very exciting for Vinny. He’s questioning a lot of things in his life right now, but that’s all I can say…”

Lisa Riley who was stood by his side also confirmed: “Vinny’s got some really good stuff coming up!” This was after the actress shared: “A lot’s going to be happening with Bear Wolf.

“We don’t know [what’s going on with him]. The audience will probably know, but Mandy, Paddy and Vinny don’t know at all.

“It’s whether Bear’s going to be in danger or not. Danger could be on the cards for him. But us as the characters don’t know.”

Emmerdale airs on weekdays at 7:30pm on ITV1 and is available to stream on ITVX.
