Emmerdale fans might soon see a legendary family welcome some new members or even the return of ‘old faces’ – if one of the show’s stars gets their wish.

As devotees of the ITV soap will know, we’ve had some new additions in recent weeks with Shebz Miah joining Emmerdale as Kammy and Bradley Riches’ casting. Last year, we also saw a new Sugden in the village in the shape of John.

Now, the attention is being turned to the Tates at Home Farm. As fans of the show are very aware, actor Ned Porteous, 30, reprised his role of Joe Tate towards the end of 2024 – his return stunning many with the character being away from the village for six years.

Since being back in Emmerdale, the character of Joe has embarked on a forbidden relationship with Dawn as well as targeted relatives Noah and Caleb for some non-complicit surgery as Joe keeps a health battle secret from the villagers.

Some might be wondering if we might either see the return of a character like Jamie Tate or new members of the family joining Joe and Kim at Home Farm. Asked if he’d welcome more Tates, Ned said: Hell yeah, let’s go Team Tate. I’m all about that.

“I’d love to see the Tate family grow. I’d love to see them bring old faces back. Or new arrivals – Let’s go Team Tate.”

Elsewhere, Ned discussed whether he thinks Joe is interested in a relationship with half-brother Noah or just using him to aid his secret health battle. Ned explained: “I like to believe that Joe’s feelings for Noah are genuine, but it’s tricky to prove that when he’s also capable of doing such mean things, but you will all see what happens.

“If you just keep watching. Family is very important to him.”
