Emmerdale star’s seven-word vow that ‘confirms’ Tom King exit as downfall sealed
Emmerdale's Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley has teased Tom King's downfall is imminent on the ITV soap, with an exit likely on the horizon for the villain
Emmerdale’s Tom King will likely face his downfall in the coming months, amid hints from cast and bosses that the villain was set to be rumbled.
Now, Cain Dingle actor Jeff Hordley is the latest star of the ITV soap to address the possible downfall of Tom, with a seven-word admission that seals the villain’s fate. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, actor Jeff addressed the harrowing abuse storyline involving Tom and Belle Dingle.
With huge scenes set to air next week which see the plot take a ‘terrifying’ turn, it seems this could be the moment the truth finally comes out about Tom’s abuse. Tom has been isolating and controlling Belle for months, coercively controlling her before turning violent.
Jeff vowed “this is what we have to see” when asked whether Tom would face a comeuppance, inevitably leading to an exit from the show after Tom actor James Chase recently discussed the villain’s “shelf life”. Speaking to The Mirror and other press, Jeff had his say on the plot and what could happen as Cain finally learns the truth.

Asked if there would be a comeuppance for Tom, he said: “Well yeah, because everyone loves Belle don’t they. This is what we have to see. It’s an important storyline, this coercive behaviour that happens and people find themselves in these relationships.
“So it’s good that it has been told over a period that’s not too short. These things don’t just happen over a few months, it can be years.”
Teasing Tom’s downfall and how far Cain will go to avenge Belle if needed, he said: “It’s his little sister. If someone hurts his little sister there’s no saying what Cain would do.” Emma added: “They do what they need to do.”
He added on the possible revenge ahead: “I think it was almost inevitable that there was gonna be a time where Cain was gonna get wind of what’s been going on. It’s always interesting… Cain was once this not very liked figure by viewers when he joined.
“Now he is seen as this hero, who can go in and save the day for other people and not in a nice way.” As for Tom, he added: “He’s clever in the way he operates and he’s masking everything that is going on really well. We don’t have a clue.”
