Emmerdale teases who’ll bring down Tom King in Charity Dingle twist amid showdown

Emmerdale's Charity Dingle actress Emma Atkins has teased a possible downfall for villain Tom King, as Charity gets involved in the Belle Dingle abuse plot on the ITV soap

Emmerdale’s Tom King may have met his match, as one character could finally seal his downfall on theĀ ITVĀ soap.

Charity Dingle takes action next week as someone finally realises all is not right with abusive Tom, who has been controlling and isolating his wife Belle Dingle. Charity is concerned for her relative, and finally figures out something is very wrong.

She sets about working out what Belle is hiding, with scenes leading to her fearing there’s more to Tom. But could this be the moment someone finally triggers his downfall, and brings Belle’s abuse to an end?

Speaking to TheĀ MirrorĀ and other press, Charity actress Emma Atkins explained what leads to Charity becoming involved. She also teased what Charity’s thoughts are, and whether this could lead to Tom being rumbled.

She told us: “I felt that if anyone was going to recognise those signs of abuse, it probably would be Charity, because she’s lived and breathed it in her past. She starts to notice behavioural changes in Belle.

“She seems a lot more closed off, she doesn’t want to really socialise with any of her friends or family, and she’s at home a lot with Tom and whenever she’s out in the street she’s always with Tom. I think she starts to let her know that she’s picking up this vibe that something potentially might be wrong.”

Emma went on: “She knows at first she’s got to play this very subtle, gentle game. She teases little things out of Belle, but not enough to really know. At this point, her suspicions over Tom’s behaviour ramp up, so there’s even more reason. He keeps changing his mind, Belle’s running around after him but she’s like a frightened housewife, and her behaviour is just very staccato and he’s saying jump, and she’s saying how high.

“Nobody seems to be seeing it except Charity. I think the audience will be really frustrated. In a good way, because it shows you just how this sort of stuff does go on every day in people’s domestic lives, they’re living that hell. It’s strong stuff, I spend a lot of my time screaming at Tom. It’s difficult to watch sometimes, I must say.”
