Emmerdale youngster given terrifying health news
Sarah Sugden (Katie Hill), who is already battling several health complications, one of which gives her a life expectancy of another 20 or so years, is set to receive some devastating health news in Emmerdale.
She’s recently been the focal point of a love triangle between Jacob Gallagher (Joe-Warren Plant) and Kammy (Shebz Miah), but while she enjoyed the male attention, she realised it wasn’t a man she wanted in her life – it was a baby.
She dropped this bombshell on Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick), who quite frankly didn’t know what to make of it. This decision of Sarah’s came from her pregnancy scare, which made her realise the one thing she wanted more than anything in the world was her own family.
Her health conditions mean she’s unlikely to get pregnant on her own, so the savvy teen has already begun exploring IVF options.
While Manpreet Sharma (Rebecca Sarker) tried to give her a reality check of the low likelihood of this becoming a reality for her, Sarah decided to ignore her and go private.
Her plan is progressing as her fertility appointment fast approaches. Charity (Emma Atkins) and Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) are still in the dark even though Sarah manages to wangle an advance on her wages out of Cain to pay for her impending treatment.
At the appointment the doctor shares their concern much like Manpreet did, but Sarah is determined to see her dream of becoming a mum a reality.
Sarah is almost giddy when the appointment seemingly goes well and she prepares for the further examination. She feels nervous, but ready. Except she’s not ready for what Dr Knapp is about to tell her.
Dr Knapp gives an anxious Sarah some heart-sinking news – she found inflammation on her cervix during the examination.
With no further information until more tests are done, Sarah is terrified. But as no one in her family knows what she’s been up to, she has no one to talk to. She can’t even bring herself to tell Vanessa.
She makes an attempt to speak to Cain and Charity, but both are caught up in their own worlds, leaving Sarah feeling alone and afraid.
With no one by her side, Sarah sneaks off to her follow-up appointment to face a possible cancer diagnosis and anxiously awaits the results of her biopsy. Is Sarah about to find out she has the big C?
