Emmerdale’s very own Beth Cordingly, famed for her role as Ruby Miligan, has captured fans’ attention not just on screen, but off-screen with her candid social media revelations. Known for her emotional and dynamic storylines since joining the soap last year, the actress has taken a breath from her usual drama to share a slice of her personal life on Instagram, leaving followers absolutely gobsmacked. Beth, 48, has been central to the gripping plot involving Joe Tate’s downfall on Emmerdale. Yet, step away from the cameras, and you’ll find her living a more quiet life.
In an Instagram update that turned heads, alongside an eye-catching selfie clad in swimwear, she penned: “Today called. It said: Get your legs out. Dig out your swimmers. Live your ‘one wild and precious life.’ Wear sunscreen.
“Photo taken in Greece last summer by my daughter. I said: ‘Please can you take this so I can see it when I am a hundred?’ She looked at me like I was a weirdo (standard) and took it.
“Then today I thought: ‘When I’m a hundred, I hope I’ll be interested in something more life-affirming than looking back at this.’ So it’s today. Wear sunscreen. Live. What will you do with your one wild and precious life?”
In the eye-catching photo shared by the actress, fans were quick to express their awe over her balancing act on a balcony railing.
One fan commented: “Great photo, you must have good balance, I’d fall off in a shot!” While another added: “Goals, you are so inspirational.”
A concerned follower replied: “Please get down, I’m scared for you, lol.” Meanwhile, a fourth replied: “How did you not have the fear of falling. Omg, you’re a queen!”
There was also unease from someone who remarked: “Apart from looking stunning, I don’t like how you’re perched there! I’d end up over the top flat on my face!”
Fans lavished the soap star with compliments, finding her both “gorgeous” and appreciative of her candid nature. Basking in the sunlight, she looked every bit the part, though lounging on a balcony railing isn’t recommended.
For those unfamiliar with Emmerdale’s Beth, you might recognise her from her stint as PC Kerry Young in The Bill back in 2002. After a tragic end for her character in 2004, ITV premiered an hour-long special, ‘Kerry’s Story’ on ITV3.
Soap enthusiasts might also recall her more recent role in EastEnders in 2017, where she featured as Shirley Carter’s cellmate, Debbie Morton. Since her introduction to Emmerdale, Ruby’s character has experienced a great deal of turmoil.
From her husband Caleb’s infidelity to the revelation of childhood abuse by her father, viewers have witnessed her character endure a lot in a short period. Ruby has undergone significant development in just over a year, swiftly becoming a beloved character.
