Emmerdale’s Cain tearful as he makes emotional plea to Moira over decision to switch off life support
Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) begged Moira (Natalie J Robb) to not hide things from him after discovering that she had made a living will, instructing doctors to switch off her life support in a ‘worst case scenario’.
Moira, as viewers know, was diagnosed with a brain tumour in September and has debated on whether or not she should get the surgery to remove it.
Cain was adamant that it was the best possible choice but Moria wasn’t so sure – that is, until a particularly frightening incident occurred involving Isaac, which led her to decide to go ahead with the procedure.
Moira was notified that the surgery would take place at the end of November and, despite Cain’s delight at such news, she still had some reservations – and thus decided to prepare for the worst case scenario.
Thursday’s (October 24) edition of the ITV soap saw Vanessa Woodfield (Michelle Hardwick) accompany Moira as she had a living will made.
‘A living will allows me to instruct my doctors on what I would want to happen medically in case I am too incapacitated to let them know’, she said at the time, explaining her decision.
Vanessa, while supportive, was adamant that Moira should notify Cain of her plans.
Moira, however, made it clear that she didn’t want to put that on him – arguing that, if the worst happens, then she will have already made the decision so that her loved ones don’t have to.
Little did she know, however, that Cain had overheard the whole thing.
The mechanic didn’t confront Moira immediately, wanting to see if she brought up the topic of conversation but, when she didn’t, he decided to speak to his wife, telling him that he knows about her plans.
Moira was taken aback that he already know but she wasted little time in explaining her decision for keeping him out of the loop, reiterating that she was simply trying to do what was best for him.
Cain, fighting tears, begged her not to withhold information from him, assuring her that he just wants to support her in whatever way he can.
Moira was apologetic, swearing that she never meant to hurt him, and Cain didn’t hold any grudges as he and Moira shared a heartfelt moment together, promising to be honest with one another from here on out.
