Emmerdale’s David’s Shop’s new owner ‘unveiled’ after Eric sells it – and it’s a Dales legend
Emmerdale's Eric Pollard could be set to sell his beloved shop - and fans have 'worked out' who will take over
Emmerdale’s iconic location David’s Shop could be getting a swanky new boss if the fans are to be believed they reckon they ‘know’ the next owner.
The cherished shop has been part of the village scene since 2009, with various villagers taking turns at playing shopkeeper, such as David Metcalfe (Matthew Wolfenden).
As it stands, village legend Eric Pollard (Chris Chittell) is the shopkeeper. But whispers around the Dales hint that there might be a fresh face behind the counter soon, especially after Eric’s recent misadventures.
Last month, poor old Eric ploughed a hefty sum into crypto, only to watch it go up in smoke when his bank account got cleaned out.
To add insult to injury, he didn’t just gamble with his cash he also dipped into his fiancee Brenda Walker’s (Lesley Dunlop) piggy bank without asking and lost that too. When Brenda clocked what had happened, she was left absolutely gutted, reports Leeds Live.
She didn’t mince her words, calling him “stupid” for not only gambling away her nest egg but also putting their home on the line by securing a loan against it. In Tuesdays episode (December 3), the plot thickened as Brenda aired her second thoughts about tying the knot with Eric post-his fib-filled fiasco.
Eric was later overheard pondering the sale of his beloved shop as a way to reimburse Brenda’s dosh. Now, the fans are all abuzz, convinced a certain Dales stalwart will snap up the establishment.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, chatter is bubbling about the fate of Eric and Brenda’s lavish future prospects. One user speculated: “It doesn’t look good for Eric and Brenda’s no expense spared future, but maybe selling the shop would help?”.
Another member of the page weighed in on who might snap up the shop, suggesting: “Definitely, he said he will but I think Kim could buy it off him.” This prompted agreement from another fan, who enthused: “Yes Kim Tate!”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
