Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher admits he had ‘biggest crush’ on ITV soap co-star
Kelvin Fletcher revealed he had a crush on a former Emmerdale co-star on Friday's vodcast Off Script
Kelvin and Liz Fletcher returned on Friday for another episode of their popular vodcast Off Script… Coronation Street and Emmerdale.
In the latest instalment, Kelvin, 41, who portrayed Andy Sugden in the ITV soap from 1996 to 2016, discussed recent scenes involving characters Kim and Joe Tate.
Fans will remember that Caleb Milligan recently discovered Joe had orchestrated his stabbing to steal his kidney. A worried Kim, keen to quell the escalating feud between Caleb and Joe, arranged a meeting at Home Farm.
When the discussion descended into squabbling, Kim proposed a truce by offering Caleb compensation in the form of land around his depot. Later, Joe assured her he wouldn’t deceive her again, leading a resolute Kim to vow to keep their enemies close and build an invincible empire.
Reflecting on these scenes, Kelvin made a confession to wife Liz. He reminisced: “I think we’ve got to give a special mention as well to Claire King, of course, who plays Kim Tate.
“So she started Emmerdale in 1989, I remember when I started in Emmerdale, I started in 1996, and quite a few characters become soap legends”, reports Leicestershire Live.
“I think Kim Tate is iconic, you think of Emmerdale, and as regards as an actress, having worked with her myself, she’s just a fantastic team member.
“Looks amazing on camera, I used to have the biggest crush on her” Kelvin revealed, leaving his wife Liz astonished as she exclaimed: “Did you?” She then playfully warned: “Hey Kim, watch it!”.
Kelvin then confessed: “So many people do! Everyone adores her because she works so hard, she cares so much for the show and the audience love her as well. She’s just a brilliant character!”
Liz chimed in with a heartfelt message: “Claire if you’re listening, we love you!”.
Since leaving Emmerdale in 2016, Kelvin has been busy with roles in ‘Death In Paradise’, ‘The Teacher’, and ‘Father Brown’. He’s also ventured into reality TV with ‘Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure’ and ‘Fletchers’ Family Farm’, not to mention hosting his own soap vodcast ‘Off Script’.
In the latest episode of their podcast, Kelvin and Liz caught up with ‘Coronation Street’ star Sam Aston, who’s been portraying Chesney Brown since 2003.
