Emmerdale’s Kelvin Fletcher announces TV return after quitting acting for farm life

Former Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher, who played Andy Sugden on the soap, has announced his return to TV screens with a brand new reality show with his family

Former Emmerdale star Kelvin Fletcher has delighted his fans with an update on his latest projects. Kelvin, 40, played the popular character Andy Sugden on the ITV soap from 1996 to 2016.

After leaving the show, he won strictly -come-dancing>Strictly Come Dancing in 2019 with his professional dance partner Oti Mabuse.

Recently, Kelvin has been enjoying life on his farm with his family, as seen on their reality TV show Fletchers’ Family Farm. The show has been well-received by audiences.

This Christmas, Kelvin and his family will return to TV screens in a festive special on ITV. A spokesperson said: “Kelvin, (his wife) Liz and the family are back for a seasonal special where they venture to Finland and visit another family farm thriving in the harsh conditions of the Arctic Circle.”

The spokesperson added: “It’s not all work, though, as the Fletchers dive into the magic of a Nordic winter by enjoying traditional activities and meeting the animals that flourish in this frosty wilderness to make their Finnish adventure – one the family will never forget”, reports Leeds Live.

Kelvin previously spoke about the challenges of leaving Emmerdale to become a farmer. During lockdown, Kelvin and his wife moved to the Peak District with their two children, Marnie and Milo.

“A week today, our show Kelvin’s Big Farming Adventure comes out,” he enthused. “We can’t wait for you to see it. Hopefully, you’ll enjoy the show. it’ll be informative, it’ll be exciting, it’ll be entertaining and it’ll be honest.”

Kelvin hopes to depict the real challenges he and his missus, Liz Marsland, have wrestled with while cutting their teeth in agriculture. Despite the odds, he’s chuffed with the substantial strides they’ve made on their vast stretch of land.

“Knowledge obviously very limited but with a great sense of belief and togetherness, you know, so far so good. We’re making a relatively smooth success.”

Wrapping up his Instagran Story, he added: “A few struggles along the way, but absolutely loving it, and it’s absolutely a way of life.”
