Ex-Emmerdale actor Kelvin Fletcher has shared a heartbreaking update with ITV fans, revealing the “tragic” news of a recent loss on his beloved family farm.

Kelvin Fletcher, best known for playing lovable rogue Andy Sugden in Emmerdale, appeared via video link on Lorraine’s Wednesday (April 2) show, with his wife Liz Marsland by his side.

During their chat with host Lorraine Kelly, the duo shed light on the ups and downs of farm life, particularly amidst lambing season which can bring joy as well as sorrow.

Regrettably, Kelvin disclosed that they faced a somber event when one of their sheep, anticipating the birth of triplets, tragically lost one of her babies shortly after its birth.

While presenting his newborn lambs on the programme, Kelvin said: “These are the twins, we’ve actually named both of these.

“Now, sadly, the mum there did have a prolapse, and she was actually in lamb with triplets, and we sadly lost the first one.

“But we managed to obviously save these two and they were looking very very small when they were first born. They’re probably about four or five days old,” he elaborated, cradling one of the tiny lambs toward the camera, reports Cheshire Live.

Only last month, Lorraine, who keeps in touch with the Fletchers’ farming adventures, pointed out the dramatic shift in Kelvin’s lifestyle, reminding him of his past aspirations to swap the British countryside for the glitz of Hollywood.

Commenting on his journey, she remarked: “It’s amazing how life turns out, there you are, all those years on Emmerdale and you were so brilliant on Strictly but you were going to go to Hollywood.

“You were going to go to Los Angeles, there were a lot of doors opening there, lots of auditions lined up and then of course, COVID hit.

“So you’ve gone from Hollywood to being a farmer, you couldn’t make it up could you?”

Kelvin responded: “Hollywood to Cheshire, I didn’t quite plan for that, it’s funny how things turn out and with our family now, it’s a life that we never envisaged but it’s a life we can’t imagine not being like that.”
