Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd horrified as old contact arrives in the village
Emmerdale have confirmed that Ray will be arriving in the village and he is set to have a huge impact on the residents - especially Mackenzie Boyd

Emmerdale’s Mackenzie Boyd, portrayed by Lawrence Robb, might find his life thrown into chaos with the entrance of a blast from the past.
The soap has announced that celebrated actor Joe Absolom will be joining the Emmerdale family, taking on the role of Ray.
Ray’s initial facade as a farm machinery salesman quickly crumbles away to reveal his shady dealings in the drug trade when he arrives at the farm.
Emmerdale’s team has confirmed that beneath Ray’s cool and composed demeanour lurks a dangerous side, reports Leicestershire Live.
Speaking about the new addition, Emmerdale producer Laura Shaw said: “We are thrilled to welcome Joe Absolom to the cast. It’s fantastic to have such a high calibre and immensely talented actor join our wonderful team to play the role of Ray.”
Shaw continued her praise, describing Ray as: “Charming, charismatic and effortlessly likeable, Ray is an extremely complex character who very quickly shows his dark and villainous side to some of our most loved villagers, leaving them in no doubt as to what he’s capable of.”
Joe himself expressed his excitement about the role, stating: “Well what an honour to join such a talented team at Emmerdale! It’s an iconic show and I’m grateful to be part of it. I can’t wait to see what’s in stock for Ray!”
Considering Mackenzie’s efforts to establish a stable life in Emmerdale since his arrival, the apparition of Ray could well stir up some drama.
One big question hangs in the air – will Mackenzie go to great lengths to keep his connection to Ray secret from his sister Moira (Natalie J Robb) and partner Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins)?
The news of Ray’s arrival follows hot on the heels of the announcement that Jaye Griffiths will be joining the cast as a new farmer in the village.
When a neighbouring tenant farmer, Celia, approaches Moira about renting two of her fields, Moira is quick to dismiss her. However, it’s clear that Celia isn’t one to be easily deterred.
Moira’s reluctance to engage with Celia becomes more understandable when we learn of Celia’s reputation. Despite financial struggles on her own farm, Moira seems wary of dealing with this woman.
The situation escalates when Paddy (Dominic Brunt), the local vet, is savagely attacked and hospitalised by one of Celia’s guard dogs. Her reaction to the incident gives us a glimpse into her true character.
Laura hinted at Celia being a “mysterious” newcomer and expressed her excitement for viewers to discover what she’s capable of.
Emmerdale also teased fans with a hint of upcoming drama, stating: “Celia is renting a neighbouring farm in Emmerdale from Kim Tate, but with the Bartons and Sugdens as farming families already well established within the community there is definitely conflict on its way.”
