Emmerdale’s Tom set for ‘death’ as villager gets revenge in ‘double exit’ twist
Tom's downfall is sealed as Emmerdale bosses teased he will soon face comeuppance. But amid theories he could die, his exit could also push another villager out of the Dales.
Viewers have been concerned for Amelia Spencer as her romance with Tom King could turn deadly – but could she be the one to take him down?
Actor James Chase has been leaving ITV viewers on the edge of their seats as his final chapter in Emmerdale as the abusive Tom King has been teased by bosses. His downfall will be aired during an hour-long episode due on our screens in December.
But as his exit looms, with no redemption arc on the horizon, soap fans have been wondering if he could be killed off, despite some of them arguing an on-screen death could send a negative message to domestic abuse survivors and victims.
Though Tom’s estranged wife Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper), whom he tormented for months, has enough of a motive to want him gone, viewers have suggested that his last allies in the eponymous village, uncle Jimmy and girlfriend Amelia Spencer, could have seen his true colours – with the latter likely to retaliate in a murderous fashion.

In this scenario, Tom’s ongoing abuse towards Amelia, who he has love-bombed into a relationship, would turn physical, just as his actions towards Belle increased in violence over the course of their marriage. Desperate, much like Belle when she struck the vile vet in the back with an axe, Amelia could be backed into a corner enough for her to hurt Tom back, killing him.
While the murder would have been committed in self-defence, Amelia would still not be exempted from a stint behind bars, much like her father Dan who was thrown in prison last year for a similar crime, hinting at the possibility that she could return once her sentence was over.
Actress Daisy Campbell is set to leave the Yorkshire-based drama after 13 years as Amelia Spencer, and suggested that the door had been left open for her character to return. This could a hint at a potential prison downfall for Amelia, forcing her to leave two-year-old Esther behind in the village, unless a relative, like her brother Sean, gets involved.
Speaking exclusively with the Mirror to announce the news, Daisy, 21, said: IIt wasn’t my choice to leave Emmerdale and it was a shock at first. Being in Emmerdale is all I have ever known. I’ve spent the whole of my childhood growing up in the soap and it felt daunting.”
The actress was eventually told by bosses that they had run out of storylines for her: “Once they explained, I totally got it”, she continued. “Amelia isn’t part of the Dingles, her dad has left, Samson has gone now and she doesn’t have any family.”
“There is nowhere to take Amelia and I understand that. I feel incredibly lucky to have been in the soap for 13 years and to have been handed so many opportunities at such a young age.” But will she really become a killer before bowing out?
