Gun goes off in Emmerdale d.e.a.t.h story as Cain’s secret explodes
The following article contains spoilers from an episode of Emmerdale that hasn’t aired on ITV, but is available to view on ITVX.
Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) has rushed to find Caleb Miligan (William Ash) and Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) in Emmerdale after hearing a gun go off in a barn.
Last week, Caleb discovered Anthony s.e.x.u.a.l.l.y abused his daughter Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) when she was younger. As well as this horrifying revelation, Caleb and Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) also managed to work out that Anthony is the father of Ruby’s daughter Steph (Georgia Jay).
Yesterday, Anthony very much found himself on borrowed time. He woke up at Laurel’s (Charlotte Bellamy) house and then got to work tutoring Angelica (Rebecca Bakes).
While this was happening, Nicola (Nicola Wheeler) had briefly mentioned what Anthony was up to, which was overheard by Chas.
She didn’t go into a great deal of detail, but Chas told Nicola that Anthony cannot be around children – and she believed her.
Nicola rushed home and confronted Anthony, who reacted with anger and grabbed her.
The confrontation stopped suddenly due to Laurel arriving. She had hit Anthony with a candlestick, which knocked him to the floor.
As the evening drew in, Anthony was found by Caleb. He instructed him to get into the car and as Anthony moved, Caleb readjusted the gun resting in the back of his jeans.
In tonight’s episode, Caleb drove Anthony to a secluded barn. Inside, he pointed the gun at Anthony and said one way or another, he will admit the truth about what he did to Ruby.
As he slotted a bullet into the revolver, Caleb spun it and pointed it back in Anthony’s direction. He pushed for the truth, but Anthony responded with manipulation and denial – which fuelled Caleb’s anger even more.
He cocked the gun and pulled the trigger – but nothing happened. So he carried on.
While Caleb’s game of Russian Roulette continued, Cain was in the village wondering where his brother had got to. Yesterday, he found Chas in the pub back room looking incredibly emotional as she prepared to tell him about Ruby.
It was a few comments from Leyla (Roxy Shahidi) and Aaron (Danny Miller) that ultimately pushed Cain to realise what his sibling was up to, so he went in search of him.
Back in the barn, Caleb tried to get Anthony to confess but he wasn’t budging. He pulled the trigger on the gun two more times and nothing happened, which meant there was a 50/50 chance the next pull would release the bullet.
Anthony tried to remain in control of the situation but it was clear by this point, he was starting to believe that Caleb would go through with k.i.l.l.i.n.g him. After admitting he had previously thought about Steph being his child, Anthony spoke about how much he hated watching Ruby ‘change’.
His utter hatred increasing once more, Caleb pulled the trigger – but it was empty again.
With the bullet apparently resting in the final slot, Caleb surprised Anthony by revealing the gun was actually completely empty. He wanted Anthony to ‘feel the same terror’ that Ruby must’ve felt when she was young – and he said this as he put all of the bullets back into the weapon.
In one final desperate move, Anthony told Caleb that Ruby has been sleeping with Cain.
Outside, he had pulled up outside the barn. Just as Cain left the car, he heard the gun go off and made a run for it.
But what will Cain find when he gets inside?
Has Caleb k.i.l.l.e.d Anthony?
