Lord knows, after her shocker of a marriage to Jai Sharma (Chris Bisson), it’s about time Laurel Thomas (Charlotte Bellamy) had a positive love life experience. And it looks like the Lord is smiling down on her in a weird way in Emmerdale as she leads a surprising fellow villager up to the bedroom.

Laurel is slowly moving on from Jai, who has prioritised making the last few months hell for her – despite the fact she is slowly recovering from a serious heart attack.

Despite her ill health, Jai has repeatedly gone for the jugular, with his most recent heinous act having been an attempt to take her house in the divorce.

Thankfully, Arthur (Alfie Clarke) returned from Australia in time to set Jai straight and dish him some painful home truths, which helped put the brakes on Jai’s campaign of torment towards Laurel.

With that settled, Laurel is now free to take stock of her singledom, and without intending to, she finds attention in the most unlikely of places.

She has some big ideas for the Harvest Festival, but Charles (Kevin Mathurin) and Claudette (Flo Wilson) are not convinced they are suitable for their church goers, and they let her know so in no uncertain terms.

Things get heated between the three as stubborn Laurel digs her heals in, and Charles is incredulous when he discovers Laurel has ignored their concerns and ploughed on ahead with her ideas without consulting them.

He snaps, and lets Laurel know just how unhappy he is with her decisions. But in a shock twist, their hatred turns to passion, and they fall into a kiss.

They enjoy it so much in fact, they can’t keep their hands off each other and move straight onto third base, heading upstairs to take things further.

Unaware of these kinky goings on, Manpreet (Rebecca Sarker) encourages Jai in good faith to tell Laurel how he really feels. She even considers taking her own advice with Charles.

Having made the decision that she needs to come clean with Charles that she still loves him, she heads to Woodbine. What will she do when she discovers pal Laurel in bed with her man?
