Emmerdale fans will be gripped to their televisions tonight as the hit ITV soap will air its 10,000th episode with an explosive village fête.

Elsewhere in the village, Mack Boyd and Charity Dingle share a steamy encounter with disastrous results as they’re caught in the act by a village photographer. Ahead of tonight’s (Wednesday 22 May) milestone celebrations, we take a look at what’s in store during the episode…

Hit and run revenge

Emmerdale is lining up violent scenes of revenge tonight as one ‘murderous’ character deliberately runs over another villager. The mystery character takes aim at Ethan Anderson, striking him in a hit and run and leaving him for dead. It looks to be revenge for the recent crash that left Nicky Miligan fighting for his life.

His friend Ethan crashed the car after drinking, before pulling Nicky out of the vehicle and fleeing the scene. Nicky was found by his aunt Moira Dingle who called for help, and he was rushed to hospital where he currently remains in a coma. With his life on the line, his dad Caleb, mum Ruby and uncle Cain have sworn revenge, after Ethan’s arrest last week.

But as Nicky remains in a bad way, with doctors unable to bring Nicky out of his coma yet, his family are distraught. With his son on life support, Caleb fumes as he sees Ethan walking around fine like nothing has happened. Soon Cain, Caleb and Ruby are murderous when they spot Ethan in the village, each of them keen to take revenge for his cowardly actions, and for what happened to Nicky. Soon, one of them, it seems, takes that revenge and injures Ethan in a hit and run.

In tonight’s episode, Charles Anderson will be left concerned when son Ethan is absent and it’s soon revealed that he’s been involved in a hit and run as he stumbles into the village bloodied and bruised – with the three most likely suspects Cain, Caleb and Ruby watching the spectacle from a distance.

Favourite goes missing

The village fête kicks off in classic style when Isaac Dingle’s beloved pet lamb Minty goes missing to which he suspects parents Cain and Moira to be responsible for as he’s been growing too attached to the animal. Minty going missing sparks a huge search party, which creates an awkward blunder for one on-off couple…

Suspicious Ella Forster

Liam Cavanagh is left suspicious over new girlfriend Ella Forster tonight when she refuses to have her picture taken at the village event and rushes off amid her hiding a big secret. Out in the beer garden, Mandy Dingle, who was left shaken after Ella snapped at her over a photo yesterday, advises Liam to make sure Ella has no skeletons in the closet before things get serious between them.

Steamy encounter turns awkward

It wouldn’t be Emmerdale without a bit of passion in a barn but a racy encounter leaves one duo in an awkward blunder. Tonight, on-off couple Mack Boyd and Charity Dingle share a steamy encounter in a barn but are soon interrupted by the newspaper photographer searching for Minty.
