ITV Emmerdale Chas Dingle health twist ‘confirmed’ after soap icon rushed to hospital
Emmerdale's Chas Dingle was rushed to hospital on Wednesday after a suspected overdose, but fans are convinced that something else could be wrong
Emmerdale fans are convinced that Chas Dingle could face another health twist, after the soap icon was rushed to hospital this week.
Chas has recently been suffering with back pain after sustaining an injury in last month’s d.e.a.d.l.y limo crash. She has since been taking strong p.a.i.n.k.i.l.l.e.r.s to manage the problem.
At the start of Wednesday (March 19) night’s episode, Liam Cavanagh saw his fiancĂ©e taking more pills, and urged her not to work if she was feeling poorly.
However, Chas didn’t take Liam’s advice and began cleaning the bar, before collapsing and hitting her head.
After arriving at The Woolpack to see his future mother-in-law, John Sugden found Chas lying unconscious on the floor, and quickly got his sister Victoria to call an ambulance.
At the hospital, a doctor informed Liam and Aaron that Chas had high levels of opioids in her system, and asked Chas if she had been taking her codeine prescription properly.
Chas said that she had been taking the medication “exactly” as she was told, with Liam adding that he’d been closely “monitoring” Chas’s intake.
“There’s no way she’s overdosed, I would have noticed,” he added, but the doctor confirmed that the test results were accurate.
During Thursday’s (March 20) episode, which is now available to watch on ITVX, Liam accuses his ex Ella Forster of swapping out Chas’s pills during their engagement party.
Ella maintained her innocence but was arrested on suspicion of tampering with the medication, before being released pending further investigation.
After receiving an ultimatum from Chas in The Woolpack, Ella told Manpreet that she suspected Chas had become too dependent on the pills, and was manipulating Liam into thinking she was responsible.
However, some fans suspect that Chas’s symptoms could point to something else entirely. Many have taken to social media to share their worries about her cancer returning.
Chas was diagnosed with triple negative breast cancer last year, the same disease that claimed the life of her mum Faith back in 2022. Following her diagnosis, Chas chose to have a double mastectomy to prevent further recurrence.
“Am thinking Chas’s cancer is back and that’s why she is in a lot of pain with her back,” one person wrote on an Emmerdale Facebook page.
“Well it wouldn’t surprise me because she didn’t have chemo. All triple negative breast cancer patients are offered chemo and advised strongly to have it,” another added, while a third said: “Hope not but am thinking you could be right.”
A fourth fan echoed the sentiment, saying: “Yes that’s what I think, it has spread to her bones.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
