Emmerdale offered a new missing April Windsor clue on Monday night’s episode.

Just last week, Jacob Gallagher, a young doctor in training, was working a shift in A&E when he was startled by the arrival of a young woman who had been s.t.a.b.b.e.d.

Although Jacob didn’t see the patient’s face, he found her purse and realised it belonged to missing April, leading him to fear the worst. He promptly informed April’s anxious parents, Marlon Dingle and Rhona Goskirk.

The worried parents quickly rushed to the hospital, only for their worst fears to be confirmed when the surgeon revealed that the patient had d.i.e.d during surgery.

However, upon identifying the body, Marlon and Rhona were shocked to discover that it wasn’t April but another person. This led to Jacob being severely reprimanded by hospital staff for breaching patient confidentiality and causing unnecessary distress to the parents.

Despite April seemingly being alive, Marlon and Rhona worried about whether she could have s.t.a.b.b.e.d someone and how her purse came into the mystery person’s possession.

On Monday night, Marlon received a call from authorities offering an update as he told Rhona: “It’s the police, they’ve arrested some guy for s.t.a.b.b.i.n.g that poor girl, I mean it’s something right, whatever happened, April didn’t do it!”

To which Rhona sternly replied: “Well forgive me for not jumping for joy to learn that April hasn’t committed a v.i.o.l.e.nt. crime!” with a hurt Marlon replying: “Yeah because that’s what I’ve been doing, obviously, celebrating!”

It comes as April vanished on Christmas Day as Marlon was stunned to find out his daughter April had fled in the emotionally charged episode. Future episodes will unfold the harrowing motives behind April’s abrupt departure, shedding light on a part of her life Marlon never knew existed.

The ITV soap has collaborated closely with Missing People to ensure an accurate and realistic portrayal of this hard-hitting storyline. Prior to her disappearance, April was seen waiting for an unidentified person.

A vehicle soon arrived and without a word, April climbed into the back and was driven away. Since then, they have discovered a secret social media account, which April had been using under an alias, with a video showing her drunk at a party.

Emmerdale airs every weekday at 19.30pm on ITV1, ITV X, STV and STV Player with an hour-long episode on Thursdays. It is also available each morning from 07.00am on ITVX.
