ITV Emmerdale teases who will expose Tom King as new character revealed

The police have officially become involved in Tom King's downfall this Wednesday but after the villain's arrest, one new character may be the one to expose his vile deeds.

Another character may join Belle's crusade against Tom

Tom King is relying on a solicitor as the authorities are paying attention to Belle Dingle’s abuse claims against him – but could the new character betray his own client?

After he was brutally attacked by his estranged wife, whom he intimidated, abused and controlled for the entirety of their relationship and marriage, the vile vet portrayed by James Chase woke up from his coma and blackmailed her into coming to visit him in hospital.

This prompted the wedding planner played by Eden Taylor-Draper to show him she would no longer take part in any of his mind games and the police were told about the abuse she had endured at his hands.

During this Wednesday’s trip to Emmerdale (October 2, 2024), Tom was greeted out of his hospital room by the police as two detectives placed him under arrest before escorting him to the nearest police station.

Once there, Tom tried to cover his tracks with his usual lies – saying Belle had actually been abusive towards him and her mood swings were uncontrollable. But in later scenes, Tom made a bombshell confession to his solicitor.

Tom is hoping his solicitor will prove his innocence against Belle Dingle - but could he do the exact opposite?

As the episode drew to a close, Tom consulted his solicitor for support, asking if they could speak as “mates” rather than as solicitor and client. Tom told the new character that he had deleted the “evidence” Belle had abused him from his tablet, but he still had footage of her which could corroborate her claim, leaving his solicitor horrified as it probably dawned on the latter that Tom’s case against Belle wouldn’t last.

Tom made it clear his only hope would be to retrieve the tablet and the device was being shown in Carl Holliday’s hands as the schoolboy played a video game while his parents, Nicola and Jimmy King, paid no attention.

This has fuelled a new theory – could Tom’s lawyer turn his back on him and choose to represent Belle in a bombshell twist? Multiple villagers are well aware of the torment he inflicted on Belle and with the lack of evidence against her, Tom’s solicitor may jump ship before it’s too late and help Belle gather the evidence she needs against him.

Soap fans will know that Tom will have no redemption arc ahead of his exit. In late July, 2024, it was reported that James Chase, who has portrayed Tom since 2023, had quit the show and his on-screen departure would include dramatic scenes. And many viewers have argued that death would be the worst fate for him.

But for now, Tom will be setting out into the village in a bid to find the tablet. In scenes due to air on ITV, as teased by next week’s spoilers, Tom tries to retrieve the tablet, which eventually lands on Isaac Dingle’s lap. After getting to the tablet, Tom will decide to destroy the device to cover his tracks, completely unaware that Carl is spying on him.

And to make matters worse for Tom, one former Dingle may join Belle’s efforts to expose him. On Tuesday (October 1, 2024) Mystic Dingle was mentioned by Sam Dingle and the Irish relative was said to be ready to welcome Belle into his home while things in the Dales quieten down. But could he go even further to help Zak’s daughter?
