ITV Emmerdale The Woolpack new owner ‘revealed’ and it’s returning soap icon
Emmerdale viewers are convinced that the iconic The Woolpack pub is set to get a new owner in upcoming scenes and some are very confident that they know who it will be
Emmerdale viewers are convinced that The Woolpack is set to welcome a new proprietor – and it’s a face we all recognise.
The iconic pub is one of the most famous in soapland, boasting a rich history throughout the soap’s 53-year tenure on our screens.
Over the decades, audiences have seen numerous characters take charge behind the legendary bar, from soap stalwarts like Amos Brearly (Ronald Magill) and Diane Sugden (Elizabeth Estensen) to Chas Dingle (Lucy Pargeter) and Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler).
At present, the pub is under the ownership of Charity Dingle (Emma Atkins) and her son Ryan (James Moore), who secured the keys to the establishment when they emerged victorious at an auction in 2022.
As fans will remember, the clandestine k.i.l.l.e.r John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) has been stirring up plenty of trouble. With his wedding to Aaron Dingle (Danny Miller) fast approaching, Aaron’s best mate Mackenzie Boyd (Lawrence Robb) is hell-bent on unmasking him.
Yet, there’s widespread speculation that John might soon m.u.r.d.e.r Mackenzie in a devastating plot twist. Given Mack’s possible demise, fans believe Charity could end up “spiralling” and lose her pub, paving the way for a new owner.
On an Emmerdale Facebook fan page, one viewer proposed the theory that Debbie Dingle (Charley Webb) could become the pub’s new proprietor.
Soap fans are buzzing with theories, and one eagle-eyed viewer has a corker: “Hear me out but… what if Mack does actually d.i.e and Charity spirals. As a result, she loses the Woolpack and someone else takes it on, my money would be on Debbie. Get her back!”.
The speculation didn’t stop there, as another fan jumped in with: “I was thinking it’s about time it got a new owner.” And yet another added their two cents, saying: “It would be a great return storyline for Debbie!”.
Debbie Dingle, the iconic soap character who first graced our screens in 2002, is the daughter of Cain (Jeff Hordley) and has been at the heart of some major plots until she waved goodbye in 2021.
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 and ITVX at 7.30pm
