ITV Emmerdale viewers ‘rumble’ new character’s hidden link to the Dingles
Emmerdale fans are convinced that they've rumbled a key link between Cain Dingle and Matty Barton's new cellmate Les - and they're calling for the character to stay
Emmerdale viewers believe they’ve uncovered a crucial connection between Cain Dingle and Matty Barton’s recent cellmate, Les.
Matty is currently held on remand for stabbing Samson Dingle, despite his mother Moira’s pleas for Samson to reveal the truth that Matty acted in self-defence. However, with Samson planning to leave the village for a travelling adventure, Matty’s situation looks bleak.
TheĀ ITVĀ soap recently showcased distressing scenes when Matty’s wife Amy unintentionally revealed Matty’s transgender identity to his transphobic cellmate Robbo. Les initially protected Matty, but was later released from prison leaving Matty to defend himself.
A savage attack left him battling for his life, and Matty falsely claimed he was assaulted by transphobic hooligans.
One viewer took to Twitter, saying: “I think Les is an old cellmate of Cain’s!” Another fan chimed in with: “I have got a feeling that Les is in it for the long run and I got a feeling that Les is an old cellmate of Cain’s. And Matty asked him to beat him up to keep him safe.”
Another speculated: “I just have a feeling Les is going to break his licence conditions deliberately to end up back inside. I can picture it now, him returning to the cell just in time to stop Matty getting hurt again!”
Many fans are calling for Les to become a regular character, with one writing: “DearĀ Emmerdale, where do I sign the petition to keep Les in the village? Please and thank you!”
Another echoed: “I like Les, can we keep him please?” but another expressed concern: “If Les was to stay, I’m not sure I trust the writers to do good things with his character.”
A different fan added: “Emmerdale has introduced so many useless characters in the last couple of years, I hope they’ve got the sense to make Les permanent. He’s been great so far.”
While another wrote: “I really like Les I hope he stays a regular character, I just have this feeling the writers have other ideas…”
