ITV Emmerdale’s Joe Tate whodunnit culprit ‘unveiled’ and it’s not who you think
Emmerdale fans are convinced they've worked out the culprit in Joe Tate's upcoming whodunnit storyline, and their identity might surprise you
Emmerdale fans reckon they’ve “uncovered” the culprit in Joe Tate’s upcoming whodunnit after spotting a “significant” hint.
Since his comeback to the Dales in December 2024, Joe has secretly been causing chaos among the villagers.
He notably drugged his brother Noah Dingle and abandoned him in the woods, leading to the heartbreaking limo accident that took the lives of Amy Barton, Leyla Harding and Suzy Merton.
Joe was also the mastermind behind Manpreet Sharma’s recent blackmail ordeal, as he needed the village GP to assist him in obtaining a blood sample from his uncle, Caleb Milligan, to check if he could steal his kidney.
After successfully securing the sample and confirming that Caleb was a match, Joe hatched a scheme to steal Caleb’s kidney by having his accomplice stab the ITV stalwart outside the depot, reports Leicestershire Live.
Joe then appeared at the scene and whisked his uncle off to shady private doctor, Dr Crowley, who carried out the kidney transplant.
But that’s not all, as Joe has also been entangled in an affair with Dawn Fletcher, who recently ended her marriage to her heartbroken husband, Billy.
This week, Dawn and Billy’s daughter, Clemmie Reed, secretly witnessed her mother kissing Joe, with the villain soon attempting to win over the young girl. However, this backfired when a frightened Clemmie bit Joe in an attempt to escape him.
During last night’s (May 6) episode, Joe threatened the youngster, warning her that he would have her returned to care if she didn’t stay silent about witnessing the kiss. A distraught Clemmie later confided in Billy about the incident, with Billy reassuring her that “Joe is my problem now.”
After months of wreaking havoc, Joe’s secrets are finally on the brink of being exposed in an unmissable hour-long episode on Thursday (May 8).
A group of villagers will congregate at Home Farm to mark Lydia Dingle’s 50th birthday, but their attention soon shifts to their individual grudges against Joe.
It becomes evident that Joe will face consequences for his deeds, although the identity of the perpetrator remains uncertain. The ITV soap has since confirmed that one of nine characters could be the culprit.
Ahead of the dramatic episode, legions of Emmerdale fans have taken to social media to speculate on Joe’s fate.
Several viewers suspect that Dawn might seek vengeance on her lover after discovering his ill-treatment of Clemmie, with Kim Tate potentially aiding in concealing her actions.
“I’m thinking Dawn will find out everything Joe had done including threatening Clemmie and she’ll be the one who k.i.l.l.s him,” one fan speculated on a Facebook fan page.
Another added: “I think Dawn will k.i.l.l him off when she finds out… She may have had her head turned but she won’t put up with what he said to Clemmie. I think Kim will cover for her and get the body hidden,” while a third said: “And then she gets put away and the three kids live happily ever after with Billy.”
Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 7.30pm and is available to stream from 7am on ITVX
