Jodie Comer reveals the ‘big moment’ Emmerdale legend helped kick off her massive career
Killing Eve icon Jodie Comer has revealed that working with Emmerdale’s Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) was a huge moment in her career.
The award winning actress, who’s latest movie role in The End We Start From sees her playing a woman forced to flee her London home with her new born baby amid an ecological crisis, told fellow actor Stephen Graham about her first job in an interview with BAFTA.
She explained how, at just 12-years-old, she was cast in her first radio drama alongside a number of TV stars, including Jeff himself.
Asked when she realised that acting could be her career for the rest of her life, Jodie said, ‘I did a radio drama when I was 12-years-old, at BBC Radio Manchester, and that was my first professional job.
‘It was with a lot of actors on TV, Cain Dingle being one of them, which was a big moment for me in my career!’
She went on to explain how the actors working on that show helped her to see that acting could be a full time career.
‘Those actors kind of spoke to me about the fact that you could do acting as a profession. Before that, I’d never, ever imagined being an actress.
‘So, I think that was the first time I thought, “Oh, okay, this is something I really enjoy and could potentially do for the rest of my life… If I’m good and if I get a stroke of luck!” [Laughs]’.
Basically, we have Jeff Hordley to thank for inspiring Jodie Comer’s impressive career.
Cain is still a much loved character in the ITV soap, who is still involved in huge storylines right up to now.
