Johnny’s new EastEnders love interest confirmed – and it’s someone we know

Since returning to EastEnders last year, things have been pretty quiet in the romance department for Johnny Carter (Charlie Suff).
But that all looks set to change next week, when a new love interest enters the picture – all thanks to his mum Linda Carter (Kellie Bright).
Since returning from rehab for her recent alcohol relapse last month, Linda has a whole new outlook on life and has vowed to find happiness.
Next week, Kim Fox (Tameka Empson) suggests she should open herself up to dating but she shuts down the idea and pours her efforts into setting Johnny up with Felix Baker (Matthew James Morrison) instead.
Her plans quickly gather pace – but how will Johnny react to being set up by his mum?
Whatever the outcome, any potential romance between him and Felix is likely to be short-lived, as last week it was confirmed actor Matthew James Morrison is leaving the soap after three years.
A BBC spokesperson told The Sun: ‘We can confirm that Matthew will be leaving EastEnders later in the year. We wish him all the best for the future.’
Felix made his Square debut in 2022, arriving with brother Finlay (Ashley Byam) and dad Avery (Omar Lye-Fook, MBE).
The character also made history as Walford’s first-ever regular drag queen Tara Misu,
And while viewers will have to tune in to see how any romance between Felix and Johnny unfolds, fans will see Linda have a change of heart about her own dating future as the week progresses.
After going back to Kim and agreeing to let her set her up on a date, she gets ready to meet a man called Jeff – is Linda about to find happiness again?
EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 24 March at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
