Emmerdale spoilers follow for Wednesday’s (November 27) episode that is now available to view on ITVX. The episode in question will air on ITV1 on at 7:30pm.

Belle Dingle (Eden Taylor-Draper) was left reeling with joy as DS Foy entered The Woolpack to inform her that Tom King (James Chase) had been charged.

Tom, as fans know, controlled and abused Belle throughout the course of their marriage.

A investigation has been carried out over the past two months following Belle’s report to the police, but Tom went out of his way to cover his tracks, disposing of the tablet that contained proof of his guilt.

Nicola King (Nicola Wheeler), however, knew full well that he was hiding something and, after Carl (Charlie Joyce) revealed that he saw Tom smashing up the tablet in question, she reported the incident to the police.

The tablet was uncovered following another search of Victoria Cottage but it had been badly damaged, with DS Foy getting the tech team on it straight away, hopeful that they’d uncover the evidence they needed to prove that Tom abused Belle.

It’s been radio silent on this front for a number of weeks now, with smug Tom believing that he’d got away with his crimes.

Belle, meanwhile, was fearful that this was the case as, following her return from the mental health unit, she lamented about how Tom is still roaming free.

Tom broke into Jacob’s Fold while Belle was having a bath upstairs and stole a top belonging to her, subsequently giving it to Amelia Spencer (Daisy Campbell), who believed that he was innocent of what Belle is accusing him of.

However, upon learning that Belle has a jumper identical to the one Tom gave her, the cogs started whirring in her mind and thus she confronted the master manipulator, who turned violent, grabbing her by the arm and dragging her into the street.

The incident was witnessed by a confused Jimmy (Nick Miles), who until this point had believed Tom was innocent. But Jimmy wasn’t the only one to witness the unsettling scenes, as DS Foy arrived in the village to ask Tom to accompany him to the station.

Tom remained smug when being questioned – that is, until DS Foy revealed photographic evidence recovered from his tablet. The pictures showed Belle asleep, using the bathroom and sitting in her living room at Dale Head – all of which corroborates her version of events, aka the truth.

Tom was taken aback and desperately tried to regain control of the narrative, claiming he could explain everything. DS Foy, however, took him away to be charged – just as Jimmy arrived to witness it.

Back in the village, Belle feared the worst and, upon seeing DS Foy entering the pub, she speculated to Lydia (Karen Blick) that he must be there to arrest her.

But the detective brought good news, informing Belle that Tom has been charged. What’s more, they won’t be pursuing the case against her.

Belle fought tears and smiled, giving Lydia a hug. Justice has finally been done. The question is: is this really the end of Tom King? Or is his reign of terror set to continue for a little while longer?
