Penny Branning (Kitty Castledine) makes a big decision about her future in EastEnders next week, when she decides to leave Walford.

With her family blaming her for sister Amy Mitchell’s (Ellie Dadd) injuries in the recent club crush, Penny is feeling increasingly pushed out – with dad Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) recently admitting he would always pick Amy over her.

Next week, tensions rise once again when Penny accompanies Amy to her physio session at the hospital.

When the teenager gets upset at the rate of her recovery, an argument between Penny and Amy breaks out.

Later, Penny makes the decision to leave Walford, and arrives at No.27 to tell father Jack, just as he and Denise Fox (Diane Parish) are trying to buoy Amy up.

‘She’s realised that even though she had no family in Paris, the family that she does have in Walford are turning against her and she can’t seem to do anything right,’ actress Kitty Castledine explains.

‘Penny feels like the only thing she can do is to go back to Paris, a place where she can start again. She’s hit rock bottom and she doesn’t know what to do. She feels abandoned everywhere she goes, so she may as well just flee back.’

However, as Penny announces the news to her family, the situation escalates and Denise finally reveals that it was daughter Chelsea Fox (Zaraah Abrahams) who caused the crush at Peggy’s, not Penny.

As fans know, Chelsea tampered with the club’s online booking system to sabotage Penny’s night, after Penny stole her job as manager, recently confessing what she did to mum Denise.

As all hell breaks loose, a furious Jack orders Chelsea to hand herself into the police, and while she initially refuses, some home truths from Amy force her to change her mind.

With Penny seemingly off the hook, will she forgive her dad for turning against her, or will she leave town after all?

EastEnders airs these scenes from Monday 14 October at 7.30pm on BBC One, and from 6am on iPlayer.
