Patsy Palmer sparks fears she could quit Celebrity Big Brother
The soap star made it clear that she is ready to exit the Big Brother house at the first sign of castmate tensions.
EastEnders star Patsy Palmer could be forced to quit the Celebrity Big Brother house – after insisting she hates conflict. The actor, 52, says unlike her Albert Square character Bianca she struggles to cope with rows, which could be a problem as they are a regular occurrence on the reality show.
Speaking to the Mirror, she said: “I’m not great at conflict. I get very nervous, to be honest. I know you think because I play a character that can be fiery like Bianca that I’m somehow like that too, I’m not, I do actually hate conflict.” Speaking just hours before she entered the house, she went on to say she hopes the house will remain calm.
On conflict, she said: “I’m not expecting it because I think we’re also in a very different culture now. I’d like to think that people have evolved to the point where if there was something bothering them, that maybe you could just have a conversation about it instead of screaming and shouting. I don’t know that it’s going to be like that. Look, we all can only be pushed so much.
“I’m sure that I don’t need Bianca to protect myself in there though, she won’t come out. I feel like it’s not something I enjoy anymore, arguing. I come from East London, so I would say I brought a lot of observing what East Londoners were growing up into Bianca.
“But I certainly don’t like it for myself. I don’t think it’s very good for you as you get older to be like that. If there’s conflict in the house I’d like to sort of back off. But then I think if there’s a place for me to help, I’d like to think I will. But if there’s not, I’m trying not to get involved.”
Patsy was one of 13 new housemates who entered the show on Monday night on ITV including Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke, Love Island’s Chris Hughes and former MP Michael Fabricant.
Others in the line up include singer Chesney Hawkes and TV host Trisha Goddard, who will live with Olympic champion Daley Thompson and The Only Way Is Essex’s Ella Rae Wise. They will spend the next three weeks in the house.
Patsy has played Bianca Jackson in EastEnders on and off since 1993. She made her latest comeback in 2024, playing a key part in the 40th anniversary live episode this February.
Celebrity Big Brother fans have already started making their opinions known on who they think will win this season.
Viewers believe Trisha Godard deserves to cinch the top spot for her bravery in coming on the reality show to represent what it is like living with terminal cancer
She told followers: “I’ve got my Instagram and I’ve really been banging on about the language used when it comes to cancer and about services that are needed so people can live their best lives.
“I shout into Instagram but being on Big Brother would show people how you can live successfully with cancer and not be so scared of dying that you become scared of living. So that’s why I’m doing it.”
