Paula Lane breaks her silence on Ella’s last episode as she teases return: ‘Never say never’
Paula was only on Emmerdale for a year
Emmerdale star Paula Lane has broken her silence on Ella’s exit. But it seems she is already thinking of a potential return.
Last night (April 3) Ella said goodbye to Emmerdale as she was arrested. She had admitted to Liam that she was the one who drugged Chas, but later took her confession back, insisting she only said it out of desperation.
While Emmerdale fans may believe her, onscreen everyone turned their back on her. And so we saw the last of Ella in a prison cell. Now, Paula Lane has spoken out about her short time in the village.
Emmerdale Paula Lane speaks out on Ella exit
Earlier this year it was reported that Paula Lane would film her final scenes on Emmerdale in February, and so the timing lines up with last night’s episode. The news first leaked from Paula’s own Spotlight Talent page which was linked to her Instagram.
However, no official confirmation was ever made by Emmerdale, and Paula removed it from her profile.
Ella’s time in the village has been short. And fans all agree that she had so much more potential. But it seems Paula isn’t holding any negativity towards her time there. And is even up for a return at some point.
Taking to Instagram after her final scenes aired, Paula posted a video where she opened up on her time in the Dales. The video was recording on Valentine’s Day, when she was filming her final scenes.
She said: “I just wanted to say I have had a lovely time here. I have met some wonderful people. And I will really cherish the experience. Thank you all for your support and messages.”
Paula then went on to speak about what the future looks like for her now that she is no longer on the soap.
She added: “I hope you get to see me on some new dramas in the future or on stage. Wherever life now takes me in my career.”
The star also wanted to make sure everyone knew she had nothing but love for Emmerdale after fans were furious at the treatment of her character. And even teased that Ella may be back one day.
Paula said: “Honestly, it is all positive. There are no negatives to spin on this. I have loved playing Ella. She is a brilliant character. And you know, never say never. Who knows?”
Her co-stars rushed to show her love
Her co-stars past and present were quick to show her love and support on the post.
Paula’s former on-screen Coronation Street husband Jack P Shepherd liked the post in support.
Emmerdale star Lisa Riley, who plays Mandy Dingle commented: “Adore you. Thanks for the laughs and mostly thanks for you! Brilliant to a fault! So much for you to conquer next.”
Vanessa actress Michelle Hardwick commented three heart emojis in response.
With Paula Lane not ruling out an Ella return in Emmerdale, would you like to see her back?
