Phil shattered in EastEnders as he discovers Kat and Alfie’s reunion

Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) is devastated to see his wife Kat (Jessie Wallace) reunite with her ex-husband Alfie Moon (Shane Richie) in EastEnders next week.

The couple split in January when Phil’s sister Sam (Kim Medcalf) exposed his affair with Emma Harding (Patsy Kensit).

Kat was left broken by the revelation, sweeping her kids up in the middle of the night and eventually settling back in with Alfie.

They only agreed to live with one another again after she was coerced in a relationship with twisted Nish Panesar (Navin Chowdhry), who offered her free accommodation in the hope he could seize Phil’s business assets.

Alfie helped Kat realise his true intentions, and the invite to stay with him would mean their family unit could all be under one roof.

Eldest son Tommy (Sonny Kendall) had trouble adjusting to a new way of life away from Phil, and at one point begged his step-father to allow him to stay.

Destructive Phil shut down the idea, though later got his hopes up when he heard that Kat was interested in rekindling their relationship.

This was, of course, another of Tommy’s lies.

Kat was taken aback when her hard man hubby started to talk about his resurfacing feelings for her, and her son’s claims were shut down, leaving him devastated.

The youngster then proceeded to punched her in the stomach, before reporting his mum to social services after she’d pushed him away in self-defence.

His behaviour then spiralled, and following a dramatic night during which he smashed up the flat, worried Jean Slater (Gillian Wright) called social services.

Tommy has since moved in with foster carer Zack Hudson (James Farrar) until it can be established that he is no longer a threat to Kat or younger brothers Bert and Ernie.

Seeing a wedge driven between the Slater clan, Alfie hoodwinked Kat into meeting with Jean and Stacey (Lacey Turner) before making an impassioned speech.

With Freddie (Bobby Brazier) and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) noticing the chemistry between them, Alfie seemed to be the only one surprised when Kat planted a kiss on him.

Next week, Phil is having a terrible day when cousin Teddy (Roland Manookian) puts in a terrible offer for Peggy’s nightclub, and things only get worse when he hears that Kat and Alfie are back together.

More importantly, how will Tommy react to the news?
