Raging Caleb confronts Cain over Ruby s.e.x scandal in Emmerdale
When Moira Dingle (Natalie J Robb) was having brain surgery, Cain Dingle (Jeff Hordley) and Ruby Fox-Miligan (Beth Cordingly) slept together in the Emmerdale garage in the heat of emotion.
And now Caleb Miligan (William Ash) knows about it. Crucially though, he’s chosen to keep this information to himself for fear it might actually be true.
The reason he hasn’t already shot Cain in the head with the gun he acquired is that he learned about this supposed affair from an unreliable source.
Under duress and begging for his life, paedophile Anthony Fox (Nicholas Day) clutched at straws by blurting out about Ruby sleeping with his brother. He thought undermining her might make Caleb take his side.
It didn’t have the desired effect; Anthony still ended up dead. But Caleb has certainly not forgotten the revelation, he’s just been brooding over it. Anthony is a talented liar, but Caleb wonders, could he be telling the truth?
Anthony found out the truth himself when Cain and Ruby had a foolishly overt conversation about their tryst in the pub. Anthony overheard snippets, then filled in the rest of the blanks himself.
So, the secret has been out for a while, just Cain and Ruby had no idea.
But now that the dust is settling in the wake of Anthony’s demise, curiosity has got the better of Caleb and he decides it’s time to confront his brother. Cain’s reaction to the accusation will tell him everything he needs to know.
Caleb comes out with it and Cain is completely blindsided but keeps to the plan of deny, deny, deny. Instead, he turns it back on Caleb, demanding to know where he’s heard such a vicious rumour.
Caleb admits it was Anthony who told him, giving Cain an opportunity to discredit them as the words of an evil man backed into the corner. Will his plan work?
To Cain’s surprise, Caleb also has a huge confession for him. What does he say?
