Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) isn’t making a whole heap of friends in Emmerdale, and certainly not one of Ross Barton (Mike Parr).

These two have history and Ross has a reason to want to see Joe suffer, having taken a face-full of acid on his behalf a few years ago, leaving him permanently scarred.

When Joe first returned to the village and started sniffing around younger brother Noah Dingle (Jack Downham), Charity (Emma Atkins) enlisted Ross’ help to scare Joe off.

It didn’t work, much to Charity’s chagrin. But Ross isn’t done yet.

Joe has been unwell for quite a while, having had moments gripped by agonising pain and swallowing pills like peanuts to mask whatever disease he’s suffering from.

There has been some speculation that perhaps Joe is trying to woo brother Noah with a promise of a life in Dubai as a ruse to harvest his brother’s organs. Could it be?

And with Noah mysteriously being found drugged in the middle of the road – causing a huge limo crash – it would seem Joe has some very dark intentions, if indeed he is the one behind the drugging.

So, when Ross sees Joe overcome by a dizzy spell, he seizes the opportunity.

He grabs Joe and threatens him, before whisking him off to a barn. How handy it is to have a family member who owns a farm when you fancy a little abduction fun.

Incapacitated and in left a cold barn, Joe is threatened again by Ross, who then leaves him trapped and alone.

But Joe is in a bad way and his condition suddenly takes a turn for the worse. Will Ross’ revenge go too far?
