Sarah’s baby dream sparks surrogacy theory in Emmerdale – fans think it’s coming soon

Could Sarah's hopes of carrying a child be dashed?

Sarah’s baby dream sparks surrogacy theory in Emmerdale – fans think it’s coming soon

Sarah has spent the last while desperate for a baby in Emmerdale. And through the IVF process, she discovered she has cervical cancer – something she still hasn’t told her family.

Right now, Jacob is the only other person who knows about Sarah Sugden’s cancer. It’s clear that Sarah has been struggling, and spoilers show that Charity Dingle is about to discover the heartbreaking truth.

But now, fans think Sarah might realise how risky carrying her own child would be. Or perhaps she ends up being unable to. So now, viewers think Sarah may head down the surrogacy route.

Sarah surrogacy after cervix surgery

Spoilers for next week show that Charity accompanies Sarah to the hospital for her cancer operation. And Cain also makes an appearance.

However, a surgeon soon arrives and reveals that things didn’t go to plan with the operation. But what exactly went wrong remains to be seen. Now, viewers think this will lead to Sarah making a huge decision.

Taking to a Reddit thread, one user suggested the complication may mean Sarah can’t carry a baby.

They wrote: “Spoilers for next week have said that Sarah has complications with her surgery. But they haven’t revealed what actually goes wrong. Cervix removal treatment for cervical cancer can have complications that lead to a total removal of the uterus, in which case Sarah could never carry a baby.

“We do know that they have managed to get some of Sarah’s eggs and Jacob will offer to be a sperm donor. I think it’s going the way of a surrogacy storyline. Sarah carrying a pregnancy was already incredibly risky and unlikely even before having her cervix removed. Sure after the complicated operation she will have to rethink it?”

Fans speculate about how Sarah will have a baby in Emmerdale

Many other fans agree that surrogacy seems the likely direction the storyline is heading. And they all have one person in mind to carry the baby – Charity.

One fan wrote: “Charity might offer to be a surrogate.”

Another responded: “That was my thinking too. Or if the actress who plays Sarah wanted time off, she could have Debbie do it in Australia.”

A third penned: “I’m guessing Sarah will be unable to carry a baby. I did instantly think of Charity as the surrogate. Charity would be pregnant at 50. Debbie has been ruled out because she is now in Australia. I can’t think of any other woman in the village who would contemplate being the surrogate. Other Dingle women are similar ages to Charity, except for Belle. And there is Victoria – Sarah’s adoptive aunt.”

A viewer added: “I definitely think most likely is Charity being surrogate. It does sound crazy but plenty of women in the UK have become pregnant in their 50s through IVF whether it be surrogacy or their own baby.”

Whether or not Sarah heads down the surrogacy route in Emmerdale for a baby remains to be seen. But that would be a plot twist…
