EMMERDALE’S Rhona Goskirk has made a shocking decision tonight – and ensured ex-husband Gus goes to prison for a very long time.

The vet – who is played by actress Zoe Henry in the ITV soap – had agreed to supply a statement to the court responsible for sentencing Gus in the hopes it would trim his sentence down so Ivy wouldn’t be without her dad for long.

But as Rhona tried to read out her victim impact statement – the one Gus was hoping would slash years off his sentence – she couldn’t get through it.

“I’m sorry, I can’t do this,” she told the judge. “This isn’t true.”

She added: “Your honour, I need you to understand how it feels when you have no control over your own life.

“Gus had those embryos kept frozen for years without my consent. Then when he showed up to tell me, he just expected me to accept it.

“And he was only telling me because now he wanted to use them. I was too shocked to object. He’d done it. And even then I thought well maybe I should help him, I felt I owed him that much.

“I came to my decision but it wasn’t the decision that Gus wanted so he just went ahead regardless. I didn’t matter. Then he stole my identity. When I found out about that I felt violated. I said no.

“I think I’m still dealing with the emotional fallout of that. We only learned they were having a baby by accident so he had stolen my identity and now it felt like he was stealing my child.

“And I know that technically she wasn’t mine so I tried to stay away but Ivy was mine.”

Rhona opened up about how Gus abandoned Ivy with her and then she bonded, adding: “I started to love her, really, really love her.”

And then she raged about how Gus planned to take Ivy to France, ranting at him for her own arrest for kidnap.

It was clear Rhona’s words had an effect on the judge, who tore into Gus for his behaviour.

She sentenced him for eight years for his crimes, meaning he will not be out for at least four, missing years of Ivy’s life.

Rhona appeared shocked – and she was even more taken aback when Marlon told her how horrified he was by her behaviour.

Has she just destroyed her marriage to get revenge on Gus?
