Sonia gets a shock in court after making plea for Bianca in EastEnders
Sonia Fowler’s (Natalie Cassidy) worst fears are realised in EastEnders next week when she faces trial for murder.
The pregnant Walford stalwart has been behind bars for months, after she was wrongly accused of k.i.l.l.i.n.g her fiancé’ Reiss Colwell’s (Jonny Freeman) ex-wife.
As viewers of the BBC soap know, it was Reiss himself who was responsible, after smothering poor Debs with a pillow.
She’d been receiving expensive private health care ever since she suffered a stroke in a bath, and the bills to facilitate this were mounting.
Sonia’s sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) – who had never seen eye to eye with Reiss – believed that there was more to the story than met the eye, and confronted him over it.
In a moment of madness, he confessed to being a k.i.l.l.e.r and said that he would give Bianca some evidence to free Sonia, whilst he went on the run.
It soon transpired that this was all just an evil plan to continue evading justice, and when they arrived at a storage facility in the middle of nowhere, Reiss slammed the door on her.
Bianca has been held hostage ever since!
Whilst the rest of the locals believe that she’d fled the area after attacking Reiss, he’s continued to live a relatively normal life under the belief that his ‘Save Our Sonia’ campaign will be enough to prove her innocence.
In upcoming scenes, Martin Fowler (James Bye) asks if he wants to share a cab to the court for Sonia’s trial, though he rejects the idea and instead goes to the prison to visit her.
She’s in a state of despair, heavily pregnant and suffering from being inside the prison system.
Sonia begs him to continue working on the effort to free her, and tells him how important it is that Bianca be there to support her.
Will he allow Bianca out of captivity?
As the court proceedings get underway, Sonia is shocked to see that neither Reiss or Bianca are there!
Later in the week, Martin goes to see him to bring the news that the trial has been adjourned following his actions.
What has Reiss done?
