Sonia’s fight for Bianca takes new twist in EastEnders as she’s rocked by discovery
Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) was rocked by a discovery about fiancé Reiss Colwell (Jonny Freeman) in Monday’s EastEnders, as the soap builds towards his exit.
Last week, a jury found Sonia not guilty of murdering Reiss’ comatose wife Debbie, who he actually smothered to d.e.a.t.h in her care home bed.
Fans saw how her sister Bianca Jackson (Patsy Palmer) – who Reiss had been holding hostage since November after she discovered his k.i.l.l.e.r secret – recorded herself confessing to murdering Debbie in a bid to secure Sonia’s freedom.
On Monday, Sonia was back home and still struggling to process Bianca’s supposed involvement in Debbie’s death.
Convinced she did it to save her, Sonia vowed to help clear Bianca’s name and set about trying to get access to a copy of the confession.
A panicked Reiss insisted he no longer had the copy he Bianca had ‘sent’ to him, telling Sonia the police had asked him to delete it while they investigated.
After poo-pooing her idea to call the CPS to watch it, Sonia turned to her uncle and local copper Jack Branning (Scott Maslen) for help.
Explaining her theory and how Reiss had told her he no longer has a copy of the tape, Sonia was then stunned when Jack confirmed the CPS would never have asked Reiss to delete it…
With Reiss’ downfall imminent – with it looking very much like he is involved in the forthcoming explosion at the Queen Vic – is this the revelation that could lead to his downfall?
EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
