Stacey overheard as she reveals the truth about Martin’s d.e.a.t.h in EastEnders
Stacey Slater (Lacey Turner) finally confessed the truth about Martin Fowler’s (James Bye) d.e.a.t.h in recent EastEnders scenes, unaware that someone was listening in.
Martin’s d.e.a.t.h has had a huge impact on the local community, with Stacey struggling more than most.
She was with him during his final moments, after he stayed in the crumbling Queen Vic to rescue her from the rubble.
While they were alone together, Martin confessed that he was still in love with her and wanted them to get married.
However, this is something that Stacey has kept to herself since his d.e.a.t.h, given that he was in a relationship with Ruby Allen (Louisa Lytton) at the time.
She even went as far as to tell Ruby that she was the last person Martin talked about before he d.i.e.d, in the hope of offering her and son Roman some comfort.
In tonight’s episode, she joined Ruby, Sonia Fowler (Natalie Cassidy) and Lily Slater (Lillia Turner) in planning Martin’s funeral, and as the tensions between them rose, Stacey quickly grew overwhelmed.
Back at home, she confided in ex-wife Eve Unwin (Heather Peace) about what was really said during Martin’s final moments.
She revealed how, before they knew that Martin was going to d.i.e, they talked about spending the rest of their lives together, as they truly loved each other.
Emotional, Stacey revealed that she needed to tell someone, as she couldn’t hold the secret in anymore.
However, it wasn’t just Eve who heard, as Lily had been listening at the door.
As Lily burst in, insisting that she knew all along Martin had still loved her mum, Stacey urged her to keep what she’d heard to herself, not wanting to hurt Ruby or Roman.
Will Stacey’s secret stay buried, or is it bound to be unearthed in the end?
