Teddy vows to save Nicola in EastEnders and frames innocent character for m.u.r.d.e.r in early BBC iPlayer release
This article contains spoilers for tonight’s episode of EastEnders, which airs on BBC One at 7.30pm or can be streamed now on iPlayer.
Teddy Mitchell (Roland Manookian) has saved his wife Nicola (Laura Doddington) from a m.u.r.d.e.r charge.
As fans of the soap know, Nic k.i.l.l.e.d their eldest son Harry’s (Elijah Holloway) ex-girlfriend Shireen, and up until the last week, has managed to keep it secret.
Matters took a troubling turn when she learnt that Teddy was about to excavate the site where she is buried.
She confronted dodgy acquaintance Benji (Carl Prekopp), desperately asking him to disturb Shireen’s grave and move her to somewhere she wouldn’t be found.
Benji was reluctant to get involved again, and told Nicola that he would be in the clear should the crime be unearthed – as he’d planted a piece of her jewellery at the scene in order to frame her.
With work starting on Teddy’s redevelopment it was a race against time, and she was forced to ask Ravi Gulati (Aaron Thiara) to complete the job.
He also wasn’t prepared to risk his freedom, and during an explosive argument, Teddy overheard everything.
Demanding the truth, Nicola told him that Benji had k.i.l.l.e.d Shireen and now his building project was posing a substantial threat to her future.
Earlier this week, following her birthday party, Nicola headed to the site and began to furiously dig at the ground.
During her plight, she directed comments towards the soil… and confessed that the reason Shireen was k.i.l.l.e.d, was because she became privy to the fact Teddy isn’t the birth father of his youngest son Barney (Lewis Bridgeman).
Just seconds after Nicola shouted out the words, Teddy approached and dragged her home.
In tonight’s episode, he delayed the redevelopment and told Nicola that they would have to drum up funds to convince Benji.
He offered £60k, but the criminal wanted a whopping £150k. There was no way the Mitchells could afford to hand over such a hefty sum, and Nicola concluded that the only way they could part with the cash would be if she sold her bar, Harry’s Barn.
Teddy couldn’t bare to see Harry’s (Elijah Holloway) inheritance disappear in the blink of an eye, and approached Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) for help.
Without giving away the gory details, he explained that Nic had found herself in trouble and wanted to give Phil first refusal on the boozer.
To Teddy’s surprise, Phil said he could either buy it off them and keep Harry as licensee, or loan them the money.
Later, a deal was done with Benji and he began digging. Suddenly, a blaze of blue lights and sirens approached him, and he was carted off by the police.
As he desperately screamed out Nicola’s name, assuring officers that she was responsible, Teddy looked on and smirked.
Has Nicola managed to get off the hook?
