Cindy Beale (Michelle Collins) cannot trust a single resident of Walford in EastEnders.
The iconic character was attacked by someone on Christmas Day after her affair with Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) was exposed. Just as she prepared to leave, someone came up behind Cindy and knocked her out with a shovel.
Since then, the likes of Lauren (Jacqueline Jossa), George (Colin Salmon) and Ian (Adam Woodyatt) have all come under suspicion.
But what if it’s not actually someone in Albert Square?
Bobby Beale (Clay Milner Russell), son of Ian and Jane (Laurie Brett), left the BBC One soap last year after choosing to start his life again.
The character had a difficult relationship with Cindy following her return from the d.e.a.d.
As the person responsible for k.i.l.l.i.n.g Cindy’s daughter Lucy, Bobby could never really look at his dad’s partner without being reminded of what he did when he was younger.
This, along with Jane returning to rebuild her relationship with Bobby, pushed him to leave Albert Square and flourish elsewhere.
But did he return on Christmas Day in secret, only to attack Cindy as he learnt of her affair?
In a recent episode, Cindy received a note that said she ‘should’ve stayed d.e.a.d’. There’s a chance this message was sent by Bobby, who had his traumatic past and crime dredged up only as a result of the resident returning.
In order to prevent the truth from being exposed, Bobby could be working with former lover Anna Knight (Molly Rainford).
Given how their relationship ended, we’d be surprised – but having someone cover for him and point the finger elsewhere would certainly help Bobby slip under the radar.
To further fuel this theory, we know the culprit is going to be revealed during EastEnders’ anniversary week next month. This will also mark 10 years since Bobby was revealed as Lucy’s k.i.l.l.e.r.
Could it be him, or is it too much of a coincidence?
