‘Thrilled and excited’ EastEnders icon shares wonderful family news

EastEnders star Harriet Thorpe has announced she’s set to become a grandmother.

The actress, who plays Queen Vic landlady Elaine Peacock on the BBC soap, revealed her daughter Flossie is expecting a baby.

Harriet announced the happy news on Instagram, where she shared a picture of a baby scan.

‘#halfwaythere #grandchild #ontheway,’ she wrote.

‘So thrilled and excited for @flossiemerryweather @sam_mezz grandparents and family to welcome this new little person into our lives.’

Harriet was congratulated by many of her EastEnders co-stars, with Kitty Castledine, who plays Penny Branning, writing: ‘Aww congratulations!’

Patsy Palmer, who plays Bianca Jackson, shared a series of applause and heart emojis, as did Denise Fox actress Diane Parish.

Stacey Slater star Lacey Turner, who recently welcomed her third child, wrote: ‘So exciting.’

Harriet is currently central to a huge EastEnders storyline, with her character Elaine one of the suspects in the ‘Who attacked Cindy Beale?’ whodunnit.

Cindy (Michelle Collins) was bludgeoned with a shovel on Christmas Day night after the truth about her affair with former stepson Junior Knight (Micah Balfour) was exposed to both of their families in the Queen Vic.

Cindy was left in a coma for weeks as a result, but her attacker remains at large with the finger of suspicion pointing at everyone from her ex-husband George Knight (Colin Salmon) to daughter-in-law Lauren Branning (Jacqueline Jossa).

However, fans still have a while to go yet before finding out who was responsible, as bosses have confirmed the attacker will be unmasked during the soap’s 40th anniversary celebrations next month.

EastEnders airs Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One or stream first from 6am on iPlayer.
