Tyler Perry’s House of Payne | Is Ella’s ‘Bad Feeling’ About Laura Foreshadowing A Big Reveal?
“I Just Can’t Stand Her” – Is Ella’s Hatred for Laura More Than Just Personal?
I mean, I just—I just… it’s something. I just can’t stand her.
We’ve all been talking about the situation between Laura and Ella—how Ella refuses to forgive her, wants nothing to do with her, doesn’t like her, and has been going out of her way to avoid her. But after rewatching a section of the latest episode (which I played at the start of this video), I started thinking about what some other fans have been suggesting…
Maybe it’s not just personal. Maybe it’s mother’s intuition.
What if Ella senses something off about Laura? Something that hasn’t come to light yet but might eventually justify the way she feels about her?
Here’s where it gets messy though.
I’ve been saying this for weeks—I really hope the writers don’t suddenly destroy Laura’s character by making her a cheater or throwing some random twist at us like, “Oh, she’s been sneaking around on Calvin the whole time.” Because if they do that without addressing the fact that Calvin has already cheated on her twice—once with Miranda and once with the realtor—it’s going to feel like a complete cop-out.
If the storyline suddenly forgets Calvin’s dirt and only frames Laura as the bad guy, then Ella gets to sit back like, “See? I knew I didn’t like her for a reason.” And just like that, she’s vindicated—while Calvin’s history gets swept under the rug like it never happened.
And let’s not forget that the most the plot seems willing to admit Calvin did wrong was to say he loved both Miranda and Laura. That’s it. No real accountability.
One episode that really got under my skin was when Curtis low-key made Calvin paranoid about Laura being secretive with her phone. Calvin starts thinking she’s cheating… and guess what? She’s not. She’s just been in contact with her personal fitness trainer—someone who’s helping her eat right and stay healthy.
Meanwhile, I’m sitting here thinking: *Calvin, you really have the nerve to get suspicious when you’ve already cheated—*including with your ex-wife?
So yeah, if the writers decide to make Laura shady just to justify Ella’s dislike for her, that would be a huge letdown. It would mean Ella gets her “I told you so” moment, and the audience learns nothing. No growth. No real resolution.
What I do want to see is a proper conversation between Ella and Laura. A real one.
Let them finally sit down and talk it out. Let Laura explain how she feels. Let Ella be honest—not just with Laura, but with herself. Will she finally admit, “I don’t like you and I don’t want to be around you”? And more importantly—will she finally say why?
Because if there’s no real reason… then this whole tension might just be the result of sloppy writing meant to stir drama.
So what do you think?
Does Ella have a deeper, legit reason for how she feels about Laura—something we just haven’t seen yet? Or is this all just a way to keep tension high for no good reason?
