Tyler Perry's Zatima & Sistas

Tyler Perry’s House of Payne | Laura Was COMPLETELY Out of Pocket & Disrespectful To Miss Ella!

Now Miss—uh, not one more word. And I mean that.
So I can’t talk? You can’t ever walk back in here acting like this. Get out of here. Right. Damn. Now. And come back when you’ve got yourself together.

Alright folks, let’s get into it.
Hopefully, you checked out my review of Episode 19—wait, was it Episode 19? Yeah, that’s the one. The one where I talked about Laura and Ella.

Apparently, we’re getting two episodes per week now, so I won’t be rushing my reviews. I’ll still drop them the same day. But let’s dive into the big talking point: Who was more out of pocket—Laura or Ella?

Specifically, I’m talking about Laura’s reaction to Ella not being able to make it to the wedding tasting.

Now, in my review, I went into great detail—rewatching scenes to be sure I wasn’t missing anything. But from my recollection, and remember I’m discussing an episode that aired a week ago, here’s what went down:

Ella’s mind was clearly on the cinnamon rolls for Christian’s bake-off. Laura, on the other hand, brought up the wedding tasting like it was already a known, confirmed plan.

It seemed like they had talked about it before. Ella even said something like, “Yeah, baby, if you want me to go.” So Laura assumed she was in the right.

But here’s the issue: Was the actual date and time ever communicated clearly?
Because Laura’s entrance made it seem like she just popped in expecting Ella to drop everything.

Now, someone in the comments made a really good point. They said:

“Jeremy, it wasn’t just that Ella didn’t go—it was that she was busy with Miranda. That’s what triggered Laura.”

And I agree. In the kitchen scene, I felt bad for Laura. But when she snapped at Calvin in the condo scene? She was doing too much.

This shows Laura feels like she’ll never be the priority. Calvin even said, “She was in the kitchen teaching Miranda how to make her special cinnamon rolls for the bake-off.”

Laura’s response? “Why isn’t she teaching me that?”

And Calvin hit back with: “Well, have you asked her?”
Laura: “I shouldn’t have to.”

Girl, what?

Here’s the truth: You’re not her daughter-in-law yet.
Plus, that bake-off was for Ella’s grandson. And we all know Miranda can’t do what Ella does in the kitchen.

There’s also a recurring comment I’ve seen:

“Laura probably didn’t expect Calvin to be so involved with his kids and baby mamas.”

He’s a good dad. Maybe Laura didn’t realize that fully.

Let me take you back: Remember The Game, Season 3?
When Melanie was about to marry Derwin? She didn’t understand that DJ—Derwin’s son—would always come first.

There was that one episode where Derwin was drawing up an insurance policy for Janay and DJ. Melanie was furious. But Derwin made it clear: “My son comes first.”

Laura is in that exact same situation. She thinks she’s top priority—but she’s not. And Ella isn’t a mind reader.

Let’s be real: 99% of the time, we see Ella with Miranda—not Laura. Honestly, Laura spends more time out of town than bonding one-on-one with Ella.

Even Calvin and Laura’s parents haven’t properly met yet.
And we’re supposed to believe a wedding is coming?

After the bake-off, things calmed down, and Ella told Calvin to let Laura know she’s looking forward to the wedding tasting.

But instead of explaining things properly, Calvin just said: “Oh, Laura’s mad at you.”
No details. No context.

So yes, a clash is definitely coming—possibly in Episode 22.

Here’s my takeaway: Communication is lacking—on both sides.
Laura asked Ella about attending the tasting, which is great. But if she didn’t give her a clear date and time, how is that on Ella?

Ella can’t just stop what she’s doing—especially when she’s helping Miranda and Christian. And again, if Miranda had manipulated the situation to get Ella’s attention, that would’ve been on brand for her.

But we have no evidence of that. So, I’m leaning toward the idea that Laura never gave a clear schedule.

So yes, Laura feels ignored—left out—especially with the ex-wife being around.
She wants to feel like the new daughter-in-law, but she can’t just assume she’s the center of attention.

Curtis doesn’t care, but Ella’s got Janine, Miranda, and Christian in her life. Laura isn’t the only woman involved.

If Laura wants to be in this family, she’s got to stop assuming things and start communicating better.
If she can’t handle being second (sometimes third) in priority, then maybe she shouldn’t marry Calvin.

Because trust me—it will only get worse. Imagine Laura and Calvin have a kid. Then Ella has to choose between attending that event or something for Christian.

Drama, drama, drama.

If you get Miss Ella mad? Whew. That’s not good. Just ask Janine.
So Laura, either get over it—or get out.
