Tyler Perry’s Sistas | Season 8 Overview: This Is The WORST Season of The Entire Series!
If you’ve been following this channel, watching my live streams after every episode, keeping up with my reviews, or reading my tweets—then you already know.
I do not like Season 8.
In fact, I’m calling it the worst season of the entire series. Yes, even worse than Season 5. And if you know me, you know I’ve always said Season 5 was the worst—mainly because of how terribly they handled Fatima’s character.
That season marked the beginning of her domineering attitude, where it was all about “do as I say,” and any attempt at open, healthy communication with Zac was gone. But now? Season 8 takes the cake. They completely missed the mark on so many levels.
The Biggest Issues
People trashed Season 7, but I stood by my take: Season 7 wasn’t the worst—it was just the most disappointing.
It had potential, especially in the first half. But the second half? A mess. Still, looking back now, I’d say it wasn’t even close to Season 8’s disaster.
One major issue? The pacing was all over the place.
Season 7 moved fast—maybe even too fast. We saw days pass in the storyline, things were happening. And yeah, I get that the whole “Zac is the father of one of Karen’s twins” thing turned a lot of people off, but at least the show felt like it was moving forward.
Season 8? It was like slamming the brakes at full speed.
For 19 episodes, we only covered three or four days in the show’s timeline. Then, out of nowhere, they threw in a one-month time skip—and it felt completely out of place.
And the worst part? They didn’t even resolve the two biggest storylines until the final minutes of the finale.
-
We finally find out Jasmine stabbed Gary.
-
Karen’s water breaks.
That’s it. No real conclusion. Just setups for the next season.
A Season of Consequences but No Accountability
Season 8 was all about consequences, but no one was held accountable.
-
Andy? Awful this season. Probably her worst yet.
-
Danny? They undid all the great work they did in Season 7.
-
Karen? No accountability, ever.
-
Fatima? They made her keep repeating the same lines about not wanting to hurt Karen, and it got old fast.
-
The guys? They were written to be absolute simps.
Even Aaron—who was slowly bonding with Zac by the end of Season 7—was suddenly turned into a complete jerk. Why? No reason. Just bad writing.
And let’s talk about the murder board—one of the only things that had me intrigued when they showed it in the trailer. What did they do with it? Nothing. It was completely underutilized, making it feel pointless.
Then there’s the whole stay-at-home dad Zac storyline. Just a terrible decision that didn’t do his character any favors.
The Ratings Don’t Lie
If you don’t believe me, just look at the numbers.
-
Season 8 had the lowest ratings in the show’s history: 0.723
-
The next lowest? Season 1 at 0.889
-
Every other season? Over 9.0
-
Even Season 7, which people called bad, was at 9.12
That kind of drop is not a coincidence.
What’s Next?
Season 9 needs to fix things—fast. But is it too late?
Will they pick up right where they left off? Or will we get another random time jump? No idea. But they need to bring back what made the show great in the first place.
So, what did you think of Season 8? Was there anything you actually liked? And do you agree with people who say the finale was the best episode?
Personally? I don’t. Not even close.
