Tyler Perry's Zatima & Sistas

Tyler Perry’s Sistas | Should Zac & Fatima Get Married In Season 9?

SISTAS FANS, TODAY IS THE DAY!

March 24th marks the start of production for Sistas Season 9 at Tyler Perry Studios!

Now, as I’ve been saying in previous videos, I wouldn’t be surprised if they do everything possible to keep things under wraps—just like they did for Season 8. That means we probably won’t see many cast members posting behind-the-scenes photos or giving away spoilers.

No hints like, “Hey, this character is back!” or “Guess who survived that shocking finale?”—none of that. And as of today, March 24th, I haven’t seen any actors posting anything. So yeah, it looks like they’re keeping Season 9 under tight security.

But here’s my policy: if something is posted online by someone actually working on set—on their public account—then it’s fair game for discussion. However, if someone sends me a private message with inside info, I won’t be sharing it. Just a heads-up in case anything leaks!

Will We Finally Get a Zatima Wedding?

Now, onto the main topic of this video: Zatima!

I saw a tweet recently that got me thinking. With Season 9 on the horizon, should Zach and Fatima finally tie the knot? Do we need a Zatima wedding this season?

Honestly? I don’t think so. Hear me out.

I actually made a video back in Season 7 discussing a major milestone: Sistas will hit its 200th episode in Season 9. That had me wondering—could Episode 200 feature Zach and Fatima’s wedding? Or maybe, in a symbolic twist, Karen could finally give birth to her twins in that same episode?

But here’s the thing—I still don’t believe a wedding should happen yet.

Why the Delay?

Let’s take it back to Zatima Season 1. I never liked the way Zach proposed. It felt like he did it more to appease Fatima than because he was truly ready for marriage.

Think about it. The proposal came right after Fatima was furious over the drama with Belinda’s photos—remember those pictures of Zach getting a lap dance from Deja? This was after Tony had snapped photos of Fatima hugging Ian at the coffee shop. Zach was mad about that, so in response, he got the dance from Deja, which made Fatima even more upset.

Then, suddenly—boom—a proposal.

It felt like Zach was saying, “Oh no, Fatima is mad. I need to prove my commitment.” But a marriage proposal should come from a genuine place, not as a damage control move.

To make matters worse, the proposal happened right after Fatima invited Ian to their table at the restaurant—literally using him as a cautionary tale of what happens when a man breaks her heart. That moment should have been about them, but instead, it was tainted.

And let’s not forget what followed. Sistas Season 5 gave us the worst version of Fatima yet. The relationship dynamic became unhealthy, and it was clear that Zach and Fatima weren’t in a good place.

Zach and Fatima Still Have Work to Do

Another major issue? Zach still doesn’t fully know Fatima.

Fatima has always been secretive about her past. Every time Zach asks, she shuts him down with, “You’re not ready for that, Zach.” But relationships require honesty, and Zach has been blindsided multiple times because Fatima keeps parts of herself hidden.

We saw more of this in Zatima Season 3 with Malachi and Leslie. There’s so much about her past that Zach doesn’t know, and yet, she expects him to understand her reactions and emotions.

I’m not saying Zach is perfect. He has his flaws. But if they’re going to move forward as a couple, they need premarital counseling—something beyond just anger management.

A Wedding Now Would Be a Desperation Move

From a storytelling perspective, rushing a Zatima wedding in Season 9 feels like a Hail Mary—a desperate attempt to win back fans after Seasons 7 and 8 flopped.

Sure, a wedding would bring viewers back. Fans would tune in. But if it’s not earned, it’s just another gimmick.

It reminds me of how Marvel suddenly announced Robert Downey Jr.’s return to the MCU after Jonathan Majors’ legal troubles derailed the Kang Dynasty storyline. They needed a quick fix, so they pulled out the biggest card they had—RDJ. But does that really solve the MCU’s issues? No. It’s just a temporary Band-Aid.

The same goes for Sistas.

I’d rather see a season where Zach and Fatima work on their relationship, rebuild trust, improve communication, and treat each other as true partners—not just as a couple caught in an endless cycle of drama.

Then, when the time is right, then we can talk about a wedding.
