Tyler Perry’s Sistas | What Purpose Does Calvin’s Return Serve?
What Was the Point of Calvin Coming Back?
Okay, folks—on the one hand, it’s great to see Anthony back! A lot of people were joking that maybe Country Wayne gave him a break from his YouTube series just so he could return to Sistas. But I think I speak for the majority when I ask: What exactly was the point of Calvin coming back?
Based on the promo for next week, it doesn’t even seem like he’s staying long-term. Sabrina tells him, “This visit is just what I needed,” and they hug. Then, out of nowhere, Rich shows up. After Calvin leaves, Sabrina looks confused and asks, “Wait… am I interrupting something?” Cue Rich getting upset for no reason, reinforcing his feelings for Sabrina. But seriously—why is Calvin even here?
Calvin’s Return Feels Pointless
This entire storyline could have easily been filled by D’Man. Calvin came back claiming he needed to see Sabrina, but their conversation boiled down to him saying:
- Why he left – He got involved with a girl named Trixie, who was into the same kinks as him.
- Why he regrets it – Trixie saw him as a fetish, not a person.
- Why he’s grateful to Sabrina – Because she treated him like a partner, not just a kink.
But let’s be real—this makes no sense. Calvin and Sabrina were never a couple, so why does any of this even matter?
A Useless “Boy Meets World” Moment?
This whole thing reminded me of Girl Meets World, the Boy Meets World spin-off. If you watched that show, you’ll remember when Angela—Shawn’s ex—randomly came back after over a decade just to ask if she was ready to have kids… with her husband. 🤦🏾♂️ Like, why would she need to ask her ex that?
That’s exactly how this Calvin situation felt—completely unnecessary! Sabrina made her choice long ago. She was with another guy for three months. Calvin asked her multiple times if she wanted to be in a relationship, and she always said no. So why is she even acting upset that he left without saying goodbye?
The Writers Didn’t Need to Do This
This wasn’t some shocking twist—it was just a random red herring. It feels like the writers just threw Calvin in last-minute to say, “Hey folks, we didn’t forget about him!” But seriously… there was no reason for him to come back.
At this point, I hope he at least has some scenes with Maurice before the finale, instead of just showing up to tell Sabrina, “Thank you for treating me like a person.”
But hey, that’s just my take. Let me know your thoughts in the comments below! And as always, like and subscribe—I’ll catch you in the next video!
