The Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise franchise keeps growing strong every year, and the cast of Beyond Paradise have an idea of where they’d like to see the series to go next if given the chance.

So far the BBC crime series has shows set in the Caribbean (Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise), Cornwall (Beyond Paradise), and Australia (Return to Paradise), and the concept is one that will likely resonate in multiple territories around the world. Speaking with Yahoo UK and other publications, Beyond Paradise actors Zahra Ahmadi, Dylan Llewellyn and Felicity Montagu shared their thoughts on the matter.

“I’d quite like to go to China,” Montagu said. “I’d like to see China, China would be amazing because they’re brilliant at stunts. Or Japan because it would be brilliant there.”

Ahmadi added: “I would be very happy to advise any police stations in Italy, throughout Italy, I will go out and do a grand tour right from the north of the south of Italy. That’s absolutely fine by me!”

“A free holiday, that’s what Zahra is thinking about,” Montagu joked.

“No, I’m not, I’m very professional,” Ahmadi quipped back, adding: “I’d do lots of hard work and I’m thinking of what would work best for the franchise. Italy, I say.”

Lewellyn added that he’d love to see the series be transported to somewhere in America, and Ahmadi agreed that would be a “good idea” even if the Kelby star then joked that there are probably “loads of American shows like that”.

“Nah we don’t want Americans to have this,” Lewellyn joked. “But somewhere nice like Italy, the South of France. This is hard, I like Japan, I like Felicity’s idea of Japan or China.”

Return to Paradise (BBC)

When it was suggested that the series could be transported to the mountains and a country where they could chase criminals in the snow, the trio were delighted at the prospect and added: “That would absolutely underline the comedy in the comedy drama of the show, for sure.”

“Kris Marshall is great on skis by the way!” she added.

The cast also spoke about their hopes for Beyond Paradise, saying that they hope the Cornwall-set spinoff is able to go on as long as the franchise’s flagship series Dᴇᴀᴛʜ in Paradise. The latter has been airing for 14 series so far and is still going strong, and Ahmadi is convinced that their show will also have as much longevity on screen.

“I think it absolutely has the capacity to do that,” Ahmadi said. “I mean, there’s so much we haven’t even scratched the surface on yet with characters, and then with various crimes and cases. I would absolutely love to do 14 series of it, there’s just nothing like it.

“I get to be at home which is a real joy, and I get to work with the most amazing cast and crew I’ve ever worked with. I absolutely love working with Kris, Dylan, and Margo, with Barbara [Flynn], with Sally [Bretton], Jaime [Bamber]. We have a lovely time, we’ve got the best producer in Lindsay Hughes.

“It’s just so joyous, so yes we would like to [keep going for 14 series].”

Beyond Paradise series 3 premieres on BBC One at 8pm on Friday, 28 March, and episodes will be available on BBC iPlayer.
