Soap fans may be left disappointed tonight as Emmerdale and Coronation Street have been taken off air in a schedule shake-up. Usually Monday nights consist of a trip to the Dales at 7.00 with an hour long trip to the cobbles at 7.30.
However, tonight the soaps will be replaced with the World Cup Qualifiers, which will air for three hours from 7pm-10pm. The match will see England take on Latvia at Wembley Stadium. It comes after Thomas Tuchel’s team beat Albania 2-0 during their qualifier on Friday night.
However, the shake-up doesn’t mean fans will get less of their soap fix this week, with Emmerdale hosting an hour long special tomorrow (Tuesday) at 7pm, while Coronation Street will air from an hour from 8pm.
It’s been a few days since ITV soap fans have been able to settle down to the usual schedule. On Friday, fans were left raging after their shows were once again moved from the schedule due to England’s World Cup Qualifier against Albania.

However, it looks like it will be worth the wait as spoilers reveal some thrilling scenes on Tuesday night. Over in Corrie, Carla is shocked to come face to face with her brother Rob, who’s clearly in pain and clutching a gun. Will Rob make his escape and take Tracy with him or is it now revenge he has in mind?
It’s also a dramatic week in Emmerdale as spoilers over in the Dales reveal Caleb is a no-show at a planned family day out, having previously popped out to an errand. It comes after spoilers were obtained by viewers that detailed Caleb Miligan would possibly go AWOL.
Now, catastrophic scenes could see Caleb Miligan killed off in a brutal death. The character has no idea he’s the target of an organ theft plan, with Joe Tate planning on stealing his kidney. The seriously ill villain plans to drug his uncle and get his kidney, needing a donor to survive…
Elsewhere, Steph is continuing to struggle after finding out her real father was Anthony Fox, who she believed was her grandfather.

Last month, it was announced both Coronation Street and Emmerdale will undergo a huge schedule shake-up next year. At the moment, Emmerdale airs every day at 7.30pm on ITV with a half an hour episode, and a special hour episode each Thursday. Meanwhile viewers are treated to a trip to Corrie on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 8pm for an hour.
It has now been confirmed that in 2026, there will be a soap ‘power hour’, with Emmerdale airing for half an hour each day at 8pm and Coronation Street straight after at 8.30pm each day, again for half an hour. This means viewers will be able to see the drama unfold from the Cobbles every week day.
Despite being able to enjoy their shows for one extra day, it unfortunately means fans will see five hours a week rather than the six that they’re currently used to.
