‘work out’ where Lydia really is in m.u.r.d.e.r twist and it’s bad news for Sam
Emmerdale fans were left wondering where Lydia Dingle was after she missed her own 50th birthday party - and some are convinced they know where she really is
Emmerdale viewers are convinced they’ve figured out the mystery of Lydia Dingle’s whereabouts – and it doesn’t bode well for her husband, Sam.
Lydia, portrayed by Karen Blick, has been a beloved character on the soap since she first appeared in 2016. As the spouse of Emmerdale stalwart Sam (James Hooton), Lydia has been at the heart of numerous major plotlines.
From enduring a distressing sexual assault to being the glue that holds the Dingle family together during their darkest hours, Lydia’s tenure in the Dales has been anything but dull.
This week in the village, Lydia’s close friend Kim Tate (Claire King) planned a surprise 50th birthday bash for her at Home Farm, inviting all of Lydia’s loved ones.
Having spent the past few weeks away from the Dales caring for her mother, Lydia was expected to join the party later. However, due to car troubles, she ended up missing the celebration entirely, reports Leicestershire Live.
The party itself was fraught with drama, as Joe Tate’s (Ned Porteous) deceptions were laid bare before the stunned attendees. The local rogue was subsequently pushed out of a window, leaving a host of villagers under suspicion.
In Friday’s episode (May 9), it was disclosed that Joe was in a coma following a brain haemorrhage. And while many viewers have been gripped by the unfolding Joe Tate saga, others can’t help but express their bewilderment over Lydia’s absence from her own birthday party.
Speculation is rife amongst Emmerdale fans, with some proposing a chilling theory about the character John Sugden (played by Oliver Farnworth). Delving into discussions on an Emmerdale fan page on Facebook, one viewer queried: “Does anyone know why Lydia isn’t in Emmerdale at the moment?”
Quickly jumping into the conversation, some viewers floated the sinister idea that John could be behind her absence, potentially having m.u.r.d.e.r.e.d her and hidden her body in the lake, mirroring his alleged treatment of Nate Robinson’s (portrayed by Jurell Carter) remains.
“She’s another one of John’s victims. He either has in captive or he’s k.i.l.l.e.d her and she’s under the lake…” one fan speculated.
Echoes of agreement came from another enthusiast who responded: “I said this too!” While a third added their voice to the mix, musing: “Imagine if all along she’s been in the lake like Nate..”
